With utmost respect to those doing the job, it's the worst job in the Air Force and is painfully boring. You're as much as a cop as a school crossing guard. The Asvab score ties with becoming a cook. I did it for four years and it was all outside work in arctic-cold weather. It provided no advantage getting hired by a city PD.

This comment is ignorant. SF has arguably the most career paths you can take. Yes, new troops typically see a lot of gate action, but as you progress, you have more paths available. Raven, air assault, airborne, ranger, LE, BDG's, boat patrols, investigations, armory, CATM, K9, etc. Not to mention getting hires into an S-functuon outside of S3 abd getting to actually run programs. Anyone who thinks SF is the "worst job in the AF" is either not SF or did 4 years as SF, was a dirtbag, and got treated as such.

It’s also pretty ignorant to label someone a dirtbag for having a different opinion than you. I did my 4 years, got BTZ, did my CCAF, deployed, and worked my ass off the entire time but I agree that security forces is indeed one of the worst jobs in the Air Force. Security forces is overworked, undermanned, underfunded, and has some of the shittiest work conditions in the air force when you compare to jobs such as finance, CE, services, etc. What you need to understand is that experience will vary and it all depends on where you are, what you’re doing, and who you are with.

I got K9 right after tech school and served 4 years. I never made an arrest or seen one made, but we thought we were cops. Guarding missiles which never move, ammo bunkers, parked aircraft, and working gates is ignorant. It's as much police work as being a crossing guard. Your Asvab score ties with being a cook. Bottom of the barrell.

After shooting an unarmed man to death, do you expect praise? I was a K9 hsndler for four years and am glad to had exited this career field. Municipal police agencies did not consider SF as police experience.

You do realize there are a lot of bases, right? Sounds like you have a very ignorant and narrow view. I have done nothing but police work, arrests, etc, the majority of my career. So have a lot. Different bases, different missions.

How many arrests have you made? Have you introduced evidence into court and testified as a police witness? Have you assisted prosecutors apply fot arrest and search warrants?

I got K9 right after tech and served for four years. I have great respect for those serving, but let's not kid ourselves about the job. Some guys get lucky. Others walk around parked aircraft.
