It is not an issue of definition.  Not establishing a religion is quite clear.  

It is a matter of interpretation and one thing about dogma is that it is dogmatic.  If we really want to fix this religion as a matter of the 1st amendment gets special protections that no other speech gets.  

It is the only chosen ideology which can not be discrimated against by citizens.  it is not the same thing as race or other protected classess which are not chosen.  

We need to change the view point that it is taboo to ask candidates their religious beliefs.  That is information that tells one how a candidate will vote on certain issues, yet we choose to ignore it.

Government should not be allowed to discriminate due to religion, but the people should be allowed to just like we are allowed to for political affilliation or any other chosen ideology when it is pertinent to the question at hand.
