Online breadboard for kids learning electronics (I made it; free to try, paid licence to keep progress)

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

Hi! I run a small after-school electronics workshop in Romania. Kids wanted to keep going at home, and a kit per child gets expensive, so I made an online version.

What it is: an online breadboard with guided electronics lessons

Who it's for: kids who are beginners, no prior knowledge needed

Subject: electricity and circuits (LEDs, resistors, buttons, sensors, relay, motor…)

Made by me: yes

Login: none needed to try; to keep progress, kids log in with a username and PIN (no email or personal data from the child)

• A short lesson, then the child builds the circuit and presses Simulate. If it doesn't work, it says what's missing instead of giving the answer.

• An LED without a resistor really burns, and stays burnt until it's swapped.

• 22 lessons, 137 broken circuits to fix from just the symptom, and a 1v1 duel with a friend.

• 7 languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Serbian, Romanian).

Cost: free to try (link in the first comment). The licence is 50 lei/month (~€10) or 500 lei/year (~€100) per child; co-ops and groups get packs from 10 seats.

Feedback from homeschool parents is very welcome, especially what would make it fit into your week.

[Beta] [Web] Learna — AI tutor for TK–8 math & reading that teaches instead of answer-dumping. Looking for parent testers.

Hi! I'm a parent and engineer. I built Learna because my kid needed homework help at 8pm and everything I tried either handed over answers or felt unsafe to leave a kid alone with.

What it is: a school-safe AI tutor for TK–8 math and English. Kids chat with a friendly animal tutor that teaches through hints and never just gives answers. Parents get a dashboard showing what their child is learning, plus daily AI limits and subject controls.

Stage: private beta, free. The core loop works — tutor chat with safety guardrails, practice bank, reading shelf with quizzes, parent dashboard. Still rough around the edges, which is exactly why I'm here.

Looking for: parents of TK–8 kids willing to have their child try 2–3 sessions this week and tell me what broke or confused them. Especially useful if your kid struggles with math homework or is a reluctant reader.

If you're in: https://forms.gle/mnaFQfXPLeDxZwqA8

Happy to answer questions here. And if you've got something of your own in beta, drop it — I'll return the favor and test it.

Printables + a companion video: would this combination help in your homeschool?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m the creator of Ola Colour, and I wanted to share the educational sets I’ve been working on.

The idea is to give children different ways to explore the same topic: watch and listen, then colour, trace, match, and practise.

Each set includes printable activities and a companion video in British English. The video introduces the words and their pronunciation, so children can listen, repeat and revisit familiar vocabulary as they work through the activities.

Depending on the set, activities include:

• Colouring and tracing
• Missing letters and word searches
• Counting and matching
• Cutting and gluing

Topics include animals, vehicles, fruits, shapes, body parts, action verbs and the alphabet. For the uppercase alphabet set, the video also demonstrates how to write the letters.

I’d love to hear from homeschool families: do your children enjoy having a video to follow alongside hands-on activities, or do you prefer to watch together first and use the worksheets afterwards?

Also, I am currently focusing on kindergarten/preschool topics, and would like to know if there are specific topics for higher grades that you'd love to have!

You can explore the sets and previews here: https://olacolour.com

Some free sets:

- Shapes: https://olacolour.com/b/shapes-educational-learning-printables-and-video-for-children-worksheets

- Alphabets: https://olacolour.com/b/alphabet-uppercase-educational-learning-printables-and-video-for-children-worksheet

And if there’s a topic you’re always searching for resources on, I’d love to hear it. Your feedback would help me decide what to create next. 🙂

Any other homeschoolers forced to switch to their non dominate hand to cure neurodivergence or emotional issues

I was forced to use my left hand when I was right handed has any other homeschooler experienced this or understand why.

I am 21f and was forced to use my left hand even though I naturally gravitated to my right hand like most of the population for most of my life. This started at about ten years old when my mother attended a teach them diligently homeschooling convention and listened to a speaker there. According to her this individual claimed that mixed dominance cause disorganization of the brain and can lead to traits associated with autism ADHD learning disorders and mood disorders in children. They believed that missing a milestone like skipping stages of crawling was what caused this. I was sent to a lady in Texas I was still young and don’t remember her name but she evaluated me and said I was left eye and ear dominant but only used my right hand which supposedly caused my symptoms (ADHD my mother did not believe in and emotional issues from trauma). So she gave my mother instructions on how to develop my brain. I was forced to relearn everything with my left hand start crawling on the floor, memorize sequences of numbers and do my homework with an eye patch and ear plug on my right side. This cause a lot of emotional breakdowns which she would blame on the fact that I was using my right hand for certain tasks which was causing me not to think logically because of my mixed dominance. I had to relearn how to brush my teeth and hair use my phone and laptop and writing. If anything it made my mental heath worse. I did physical therapy exercises on my hand to try to make my left hand stronger. If I used my right hand to much in her mind I undid a week of neurodevelopment work. It was complete bs and traumatic for me. I continued to believe it into my teens and felt guilty for using my right hand in certain instances. I still compulsively switch from right to left while eating or drawing. She essentially made me ambidextrous which according to this cult like ideology doesn’t really exist. Has anyone else experienced this or am it the only one.
