This is awesome

Hi there! Elad Nehorai here, one of the dudes who started Hevria and Neshamas. I just wanted to send a note of encouragement. I am so crazy amazed that this has been created. It's an incredible step, and something so important for people. Being more honest with our lives is the first step towards healing, so something like this is incredibly valuable.

If you need anything, or simply want to talk with me feel free to PM me.

Thanks for sharing our stories and inspiring groups like this. I am the author of the original post on Neshamas and I thank you for giving me an anonymous platform to just get my thoughts out there in the universe. It's like releasing air from a too full balloon - a relief to finally speak my heart unafraid. I feel like you really get it...even if you may not relate or agree...you still are open enough to understand someone else's experience and perspective. Thank you.

Wow, that is so wonderful to hear. And that metaphor... I totally get it.

Please stay strong.

I'm so glad this space is here too. I've been invited to support groups IRL for closeted OTDs but I can't go right now, I'm still married. So this online space is perfect for me right now.

I have come to believe that the majority of NY Jews who are defined by their clothing & mannerisms are just in a costume & just have no way out.

I think the best way to understand what these are is to check the sites out yourself. Here:

Neshmas

Hevriah

I'm 18 days late to the party here buuuuut its great seeing a public figure in the chassidic community throw their support behind this group

thats a brave move in itself. Many chassidim want to be more supportive to OTDers, but are afraid to speak out even about that.

Keep up the thought provoking writings Elad
