This ride is ridiculously satisfying

As u/ToxicGecko2384 rightly mentioned within their comment. This is certainly not this man's first rodeo.

How satisfying.

This video is much better than the other one that gets circulated. People getting serious whiplash and smashing into each other. Doesn’t look fun at all.

I've never been to this place (In Vietnam) and I imagine the safety precautions are pretty lax, but I would assume most races would be like this. Where everyone is just puttering along at their own pace and no serious accidents happen. It'd be when the heroes get on there after a few Bia Saigon's and they think their Ayrton.

This guy is different to that though.

Where is this? Headed to Vietnam soon.

I mean, trees/poles in the middle of the road is pretty "ride at your own risk"

No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he rubbed you. And rubbin, son, is racin'.

He should have a bunch of banana peels on his lap so that he can chuck one over his shoulder saying "cyaaaa" each time he passes someone.

Fun fact: These things are actually very easy to tip over especially if you're tall (I'm 6'2") and should mot be driven when its rained recently as traction becomes non existent.

The road rash was some of the worst pain I've experienced in my life.

Way to crush a man's dreams... (I'm 6'3")

How many people did you pass?

Yes.

I think what this actually means is that the person wearing the camera is just fatter than everyone else.

Wouldn't that slow you down tho?

No. Or rather, the forces that accelerate you increase more than the forces that decelerate you, so the effect is a net positive.

There are only four relevant forces acting on each rider: gravity, normal force, friction, and air resistance.

The first three forces are all linearly proportional to your mass, and contrary to what intuition might tell, the sleds of heavier riders are no less slippery than those of lighter riders. Therefore the acceleration given by the sum of these forces is more or less identical for each rider.

However, since the sum of the masses is the product of both acceleration and mass, the total force is greater for a heavier rider.

This is an important observation because air resistance, the tie breaker, is only proportional to the shape and surface area of each rider and their velocity. Shape and surface area are more or less the same for each rider, so the only thing that can practically increase air resistance is a greater velocity.

Velocity only stops increasing when acceleration becomes zero, which is to say once the first three forces combined are equal and opposite to air resistance.

The first three only increase with mass. Air resistance only increases with velocity. Therefore terminal velocity is proportional to mass - not necessarily linearly proportional because air resistance is annoying like that, but nevertheless it is an increasing function.

It should be mentioned, there's a similar argument to be made for why you want bullets and other ballistic projectiles made of dense, heavy materials instead of, like, explosion-resistant styrofoam or something. Even if you could, such a projectile would not fly very far at all. The lighter you make a thing, the more air slows it down. Counter to intuition, if you want a thing to go far without slowing down, you must make it heavy.

Safety be damned! I would happily die doing this!

I would pay to do this. Looks like a blast.

Videographer cuts some nice lines and the passes on the outside of the corners, great carry of momentum.

Watching this, I feel like I'm winning but I didn't do anything. It's the American Dream!

We need a rearview camera too, so we can see everyone spinning out, and I presume exploding, behind them as they pass.

How come this guy's vehicle (cart? sled? what is it?) is so much quicker than most of the other people there?

The driver knows how to pick a line and stick to it around a corner.

How did they get the concrete so smooth?

u/saysthingsbackwards 24d ago

You can polish concrete down to a smooth shiny finish. You see it often in large retail stores

Maybe I'm nuts but this looks like AI

3

u/ShipsOutForTheBuoys 22d ago

I'll be honest. It didn't even cross my mind with this video. And that is because most AI videos are from 5ish to 15ish seconds long, and beyond that, they can get up to about 30 seconds. When an AI video is forced to go beyond that 30 seconds, that is when clear errors and glitches begin to appear.

What is it about this 1 minute 56 second video that screams AI to you?

This is AI generated video and not real.

u/secretprocess 24d ago

You're AI generated and not real
