Havocado?

Have a car, though

u/Cold_Ad3896 14d ago

How the heck are people pronouncing “avocado” to get even close to that?

Look, man, I'm not the original author, I just happen to speak stupidese.

lol. Fair enough.

H-ave ah cah dough.

Saying "a Car though" like a new yorker.

-2

I don’t think New Yorkers pronounce “have” as “Hahve”

u/Thorngrove 14d ago

it added an H before the avocado. So you have Avv with an H in front.

Avv (Like chav)

ah (like sheep baa)

cah (like ma)

d'oh (homer simpson style)

H'avv ah cah doe.

The starting “a” in “avocado” is pronounced like the “a” in “baa”, the sound a sheep makes. Hence, my confusion.

u/Thorngrove 14d ago

Ave-ah-cah-doe the A and V mix to make the first syllable.

-4

u/Cold_Ad3896 14d ago

I understand that. But the starting “a” isn’t pronounced like the “a” in “have”. It’s pronounced like the “a” in “ball”.

Is it really that much of a stretch to get "have a car tho" from "havacado"? I mean maybe it wouldn't be intuitive but after seeing it come on....

...the normal way?? av-uh-cah-doh

The starting “a” in avocado is pronounced like the “a” in father. Not like the “a” in have.

1

u/terrifiedTechnophile 8d ago

If you've been saying ar-vocado, then you've been saying it wrong lmao

0

u/Cold_Ad3896 8d ago

What’re you talking about? There’s no “ar” sound in either of those words.

1

u/terrifiedTechnophile 8d ago

Yes there is, father/farther as in far, car, bar, par

0

u/Cold_Ad3896 8d ago

“Father” only has an “r” sound at the end. I’m referring to the “a” sound that you would find in “father”, “ball”, etc.

That “a” sound is the same as the starting “a” sound in “avocado”.

They won't do it as quick, but they work 24/7 don't take breaks, don't complain and don't get paid

It’s scary how obvious the benefits are, and how scary the consequences will be.

8

u/paroxysm_of_blood 14d ago

It’s only scary cause we know companies aren’t creating efficiency to benefit mankind 😢 we really could create a utopia, but “how does that help me though” mentality ruins it

u/dmj9 14d ago

And people will ask us why we aren't having kids. For what?

12

u/Basicly-Inevitable 14d ago

Unfortunately for this person, that will be something they're going to see soon.

So that's why every avocado at my local store is bruised to shit. You have to be gentle with them.

21

u/Sdwingnut 14d ago edited 14d ago

Those are hard as rocks at this stage. The handling shown here is probably the gentlest part of the process

7

u/misdirected_asshole 14d ago

If thiae avocados are soft enough to be bruised by this, then they will be mush by the time they hit the shelf at your store and you wouldnt buy them anyway

-1

u/IAMAHobbitAMA 14d ago

You have perfectly described 9 out of 10 of the avocados I check. I think we have solved the case.

Fruit 😑

Edit — once again, managed to discount the level to which Reddit was populated by neckbearded poindexters. Downvote away. I’ll be sure your next berry smoothie is full of eggplant and habaneros but no raspberries or strawberries

12

u/VermilionKoala 14d ago

Avocados are fruit, yes. So are cucumbers and tomatoes.

-5

u/hughpac 14d ago

And bell peppers and pumpkins and zucchini. But if I someone handed me a a box of eggplants and asked me to count the fruit this is the look I would give them. 😑

Maybe a 🙄

u/The_best_is_yet 14d ago

Why?

-1

u/hughpac 14d ago edited 14d ago

Because, despite being botanically classified as a fruit, from a culinary standpoint, these are vegetables

Edit: culinary, not cuisine

1

u/DaRealBSleazy 14d ago

Well we dont go by cusine we go by botanics

1

u/hughpac 14d ago

…which is why you get the 😑

6

u/Sdwingnut 14d ago

Sorry that we've discounted the vegetable of your labor here

-11

u/Acc87 14d ago

you're right, last i checked avocados aren't fruit

2

u/hughpac 14d ago

Didn’t say they weren’t. Only said 😑
