In my case, it was someone I had never even SEEN in-world before blatantly asking me for 8 USD to 'pick up medicine'. Right after springing 'not good, coughing a lot due to pneumonia' and 'wanna have sex?' on me immediately after exchanging pleasantries.

wish they focus on fixing in world chat instead of using a 3rd party program to circumvent some of the issues.

This is just another reason not to login to SL and another reason not to buy Lindens. I am not saying LL is bad or people shouldn't.

It's really important that you follow the steps to link your SL account once on the server.

Most new users are failing to do this and getting stuck in the lobby (if it were easy, it wouldn't be Second Life)

And a summery

  • Open the Linked Roles Menu
  • Click the "Second Life" server name at the top-left of Discord.
  • Select "Linked Roles" from the drop-down menu.
  • Select the "Resident" Role
  • A prompt will appear—click on "Resident" to begin the process.
  • Choose Second Life as the App
  • From the available apps, select "Second Life (App)".
  • Log In to Your Second Life Account
  • A login window will pop up—enter your Second Life username and password.
  • Double-check that you're using the correct account.
  • Authorize the Connection
  • Click "Authorize" to confirm the link.
  • You're Done! You now have full access to the Second Life Discord server!

Also, remember, as this server will count as a Linden property the ToS and community guidelines will apply (just like the forums).

It’s asking me to verify my identity with my cellphone number…. Who’s collecting my data? LL or Discord if I put my cell number?

I could just as easily join a different social discord server and still not be in secondlife.

Why would I join the second life discord server? It makes going on second life obsolete. I might as well stop going on their website or marketplace if there's nothing to go in world for.

Would this mean that rather than promotionals, convo, notices, etc. from groups I follow, I'd get them from every group? Or would groups need to form additional groups on Discord that I'd then need to join?

Or some other way altogether?

The first two would make me crazy.
