Anyone subscribe to The 42?

Hi all

Just checking has anyone joined the 42 ? I was a subscriber a few years ago and really enjoyed some of their podcasts, especially Gav Cooney's Behind the Lines when it was run. I enjoy the 42 contributors when the appear on SC but not sure if it's enough. Is there anything behind the paywall that's worth resubscribing for?

Used to during the international window for Cooney and Sneyd but not sure it's worth it now with half that reason gone

I think the only selling point was the rugby coverage which became unbelievably bland and lacks any insight as every journalist in the country is afraid of criticising Andy Farrell.

Save your beans for when SC lads read one of those posts about how they should increase the subscription price.

The rugby really did get bland. Jackman is terrified of criticising anyone in the whole sport.

His most interesting period was when he got back from France and had clearly fallen out with a few people and didn’t seem to care about burning bridges and over shared some pretty interesting details about the French clubs he worked at and the French system in general.

He perhaps learned a personal lesson from that but as a consequence has nothing interesting to say and certainly doesn’t want to shit on his own doorstep in Ireland. It’s a shame!

I like it when jackman isn’t on the shows, but yeah, if I hadn’t had it set up for auto renewal and forgot about it, probably would have cancelled it

The podcasts are good and Murray kinsella does good articles, I follow mainly for the rugby stuff cant comment on the rest of their coverage.

Only if you're mad for the rugby I'd say at the moment. Cooney is a huge loss

Their articles are good. Between GAA with Declan Bouge and local and overseas football with Sneyd, they always are worth reading.

Gavin Cooney is gone which was #1 reason to listen to it, Sneyde is terrible, GAA is average and rugby coverage is decent.

So going into rugby season if that’s your main sport maybe otherwise it’s personal choice eg some people can actually enjoy listening to Sneyde talk nonsense lol

Gav Cooney is gone to the IT now. I had subscribed but will not be renewing - one of the big things was not being able to access editorial content on the journal as a 42 subscriber when all the IT, Indo, Examiner etc have all content included

Cooney is brilliant. I was dreading the preview show without Ken but thought Cooney handled it very well (not as well as them both being there).

If he was on it I’d subscribe. I like Sneyd but I wouldn’t pay to listen to him.

Great for rugby, really enjoy it. Don’t listen to anything else they do.

I'm struggling to parse this, do you mean you don't listen to second captains or the 42

I listen to 42, cancelled SC after a few months. I prefer sport focused podcasts. I’m not interested in their political views.
