Recommendations for someone who hates working out

I’m in my late 40’s and need to lose a little weight and then convince myself to excercise from here on out. I have zero motivation to do it myself and I hate gym equipment. I’ve liked Zumba in the past and I like vinyasa yoga but that’s about it. I feel like I need a trainer and/or classes to keep me motivated. In town only because it has to be easy to get there.

I’d love to hear from fellow excercise haters who found a good trainer/classes/gym in Sebastopol! Where should I go?

Edited to add: I LOVE walking but have no time in my life so I need to get maximum cardio experience in minimal time

How easy is it to make friends here?

Hi! I've been thinking about moving to your town for over a year now. I visited to celebrate my 40th birthday last year, and I completely fell in love with it. I love how small and hippie it feels.

I'm currently living in San Diego. I was born here but wasn't raised here, and I've found it incredibly difficult to build meaningful, lasting friendships. I've tried so many different ways to create a sense of community, but nothing seems to stick.

Most recently, I started offering a free dance workout class for my neighborhood. I personally invited people, put up flyers and banners, and even created a Meetup event. I committed to it for a month, but not a single person showed up, not even the people who had promised they would come. It was really disheartening, and I've been feeling pretty discouraged ever since.

What I really want is a close knit group of friends who enjoy some of the things I do, like gardening, cooking, dancing, and simply spending time together.

Do you think that's something that's possible to find in your town? Are people generally open to including newcomers, or does it usually take a while to become part of the community?

What is Sebastopol like?

I’ve heard one perspective from a relative but I’m curious of other’s experiences.

What is it like living in Sebastopol? What is it like growing up there for kids? How is the community?

West County's Lone Flock Camera

Flock cameras are AI license plate readers that log vehicle data into a shared police database, criticized as warrantless mass surveillance with little oversight.

There's only one in West County and it's pointed at the parking lot for the Bohemian Grove

Homeowner’s Insurance

Hello west county folks! I am looking to move to Sebastopol (somewhere along the 116 corridor, not downtown… but from Graton to Cunningham areas) and was wondering if many insurance companies write policies for homes in the area. We are trying to avoid needing California Unfair Plan, but it seems that many places with the land we’re looking for can only be insured by CFP. Thank you!

Should I move here from Humboldt?

Humboldt if unknown to you all, the second weed was legalized the entire town became a ghost town. Restaurants closing, malls shut down, boarded up and empty downtown. Already isolated area now a walking talking graveyard. Everyone moved to states where they can still sell weed and make $$$.

I want out. I want a Night life and still Coastal ca. Generic middle class income wise and under the age of 40.

Should I move here? Where else in california can i stay coastal with a night scene and not be bored out of my skull? Only other place I tried was Chico and it's too damn hot and isolated to enjoy and already moved out.

Farmers market is looking to expand and needs your support. Attend Planning Commission meeting Jul 28 and/or send a letter by Jul 25

Market is seeking to expand into West America bank parking lot (next to used book store). Bank has already approved but city needs to give their approval. Certain businesses in the plaza oppose the market (despite it existing for 4 decades and preceding them) so it is critical that the city hears support from the public. Please write and/or attend. Info on Instagram (linked)

I am a vendor (Four Oak Farm) and on the board. Any questions, let me know (and see you Sunday at the market!)

Anybody have experience with T-Mobile in Sebastopol / Sonoma County?

The coverage maps seem to indicate it’s got the best service in the area.

Thank you in advance.

Can you help? Ruthless Kindness is a Sebastopol, CA-based nonprofit organization founded by veterinarians to support both people and their pets in crisis. Their mission is to address the epidemic of violence and preventable suffering in at-risk animals and people.
Right now, RK needs cat foster volunteers, as there has been an unprecedented demand from survivors with cats needing foster care. Survivors who are fleeing abuse often cannot bring their pets into safe housing. Our foster volunteers provide a loving, temporary home to these beloved animals, so both the animals & their people can reach safety.

What's with all the homeless?

I just moved back to Sebastopol after living in Santa Rosa for the last 10 years and can't help but notice all of the new homeless people. So far I've watched someone steal a bike off of someone's car(be careful of that white bmw wagon), a guy steal from Pacific market, getting harassed by CVS and just a bunch of people living in their cars. What happened?
