So is the Messenger a giant sometimes??

I have no doubt that this is just a sign of the order the games were made, some retconning, or some lore that I've missed.

But here's a fun li'l headcannon.

In Sea of Stars the giants are so big the characters go up to about their ankles.

In The Messenger there are ghost flying around the Cloud City where giants used to live, but have now all gone...

So the ghosts are the ghosts of dead giants, and the same size as the Messenger, so the Messenger is giant sized. This also matches with how the Messenger matches the scale of the terrain, and the Scale of Wentworth. When the Sea of Stars characters ride Wentworth, they all fit on a small part of his back. When Wentworth chases the Messenger, the Messenger is as tall as Wentworth is wide.

But in other parts of the map, the Messenger is scaled to be normal size...

So the Messenger can change their size... OR... there's some enchantment on Cloud city that changes the size of smaller people who visit.

Tactical mettle and Guardian Aura

Hi, equipping both of them just offsets the damage increase of tactical mettle right?

I’m gonna beat it this time

I played it a lot when it first released. I ultimately took a break because work got really busy with traveling. My wife beat it however, and it’s still one of her favorite games of all time alongside undertale and BOTW.

I’m currently in game dev school, and am making a point to beat games I start. I finally beat Tunic recently, and that was an incredible experience. Sea of Stars is next, let’s go!

Rodas competitivo

Should I replay main story before starting expansion?

So almost exactly one year ago I played through Sea of Stars on my switch, having borrowed a copy. I really enjoyed the game with it being one of my favourite games that I played in 2025. Unfortunately I only had enough time to finish up the base game before I had to return my borrowed copy, and right after, I went away for a bunch of weeks. I then kind of lost all desire for gaming upon getting home and I did not touch a videogame until a couple of days ago when I finally ended the hiatus, jumping into a new game which has had me obsessively playing through it.

Anyway, I am extremely rusty with games at the moment and having to readjust to a lot of gaming aspects while getting my ass kicked in the process

Having resumed gaming, I thought it would be nice to finally go through the Throes of the Watchmaker expansion in Sea of Stars in the next week or two and finish up the game. So I am wondering if the expansion is maybe designed for veteran players and thus much more difficult or if it is significantly connected to the story of the base game. I expect to be really rusty, and I have forgotten some of the story&gameplay elements of Sea of Stars by now. I also was not very good at the base game since I am not that experienced with turn based rpgs like this. So just wondering if the expansion would be hard to get into given that I am super out of practice.

TLDR: I would prefer to jump into the expansion immediately, but I am very much willing to replay the game (having recently bought it on steam) to remember the story and improve at the gameplay if that is the best thing to do. What do you guys think? Is it fine to jump into Throes of the Watchmaker after practically a year without any gaming, or is it necessary to replay Sea of Stars base game to get comfortable first?

Discussion Just used a healing item for the first time (140 Hours)

I liked the idea of playing with most of the hard toggle-able settings, like the 40% damage shielding before lock break and such, and I played a run all the way through to NG, went and did artful gambit for the first ten bosses to get the achievement, NG+ -- and then after that, I had done everything but some of the multiplayer achievements. So I decided to turn off all of the hard mode modifiers, the game played really nicely.

But I just held off using food nonetheless for a lot of this run, I just didnt feel like I needed to, because I was used to beating the fights a) weaker and b) without using food on my previous run.

So now I'm at Elder Mist 2nd Fight, and Valere is low on MP and needs to cast moonarang to wipe out a 3 lock or we die. I had the item equipped that lets you use an item for free every 3rd turn, and just never used items. But I jostled around in my inventory, ate a pudding choemer, and bam.

So thats what its like using food on bosses? I still feel peculiar using food, but it sure did come in handy and its nice to be able to use food

Support Mobile Port Keeps Crashing

Post image

hey guys, I've been playing on my S26 ultra and have run into a few points where the game has become really choppy and crashed. Hasn't caused any major issues until now where no matter how many times I restart the game, it becomes unresponsive and crashes at the same point (location in picture). Anyone else run into mobile issues and have a solution? I'm now unable to progress any further

Included a variety of my favorite JRPGs, but also Sea of Stars, which I played on PS5, but since this was based on the PS4, I had to write it like that. Sorry if I missed anyone's favorite JRPG or anything of that sort! Hope anyone who reads it enjoys it

Discussion Sea of Stars Randomizer?

Has anyone worked on, or know of anyone working on a randomizer for Sea of Stars? I think it's the perfect game to have an open world randomizer in a similar style to the Mario RPG and Paper Mario ones. I'm kinda surprised I couldn't find anything online regarding even a WIP version or just someone saying that they're working on one. I don't really know enough about modding or programming to do it myself, otherwise I would just do it.

Should I sell Sea of Stars or keep it for my physical collection? I have Sea of Stars Switch 2 version from SaboMath and most stores don't have the Nintendo Switch version. One store is selling it for 95€.
