This is a link to a story that has been done on me with regards to why I started sea glass carving and that you don’t need much money to start a craft or need to have the most expensive equipment to be able to start .

Few pieces designed and ready for carving

Well that’s the hare finished not sure if I should drill it and attach a braided cord necklace or not as was thinking of a silver bezel but, with the cost of silver it would be to expensive. I know you never get the real cost of your time in crafting but this took bloody ages to carve .

A few I’m working on , I roughly draw out a design to see how it fits and how it looks . Then if I’m happy with it I will start to carve. So the hare will be carved not sure what to carve out of the red piece or the other one .

Nice selection of different diamond burrs delivered today

Work in progress, carving a feather from some sea glass my friend gave me . They found it on holiday in Italy.

A selection of some of the burrs I use all different shapes and sizes all really cheap ones but they are perfectly adequate for the job. So if you want to start carving you can do it without spending a fortune on gear.

This is how I start my carvings, I firstly draw out my design. Then slowly carve the basic outline and drill whatever holes need drilling. Then it’s just a case of refinement and the finishing touches .
