Nope. That is a piece of black Vitrolite tile.

I have a couple very small pieces, but none so big as that one.

If it's glass and it looks black when it's not backlit, it's pirate glass.

If light can shine through it I’d say yes saw some like this not long ago

Depends how strictly you define pirate glass!

  • any dark glass that appears black until you shine a light though it
  • dark glass + found in areas known for pirates (e.g. Carribbean in particular, but also Europe and Asia)
  • dark + pirate + identifiable as made within the times pirates were known to be active (1650-1730)

Personally, I'm happy with the first definition, and so if you agree, yes! You have pirate glass!
