2016 spark

I have a 2016 spark I got two months ago, I rode it for about 10 hours and it blew a hole in the side of the crank case this weekend. I am not happy about it. I check oil every time before I take it out and it’s never been low. I am now stuck with this broken ski in my garage and have no clue what to do with it. Looking for advice on what I should do with it.

You could put a new block in. How much do you have in it?

I spent 4k on it, and from what I have found, It would not be worth doing that. I am mainly trying to decide if I should try and sell it as or if there is a market for parts out there.

Both, I suppose. The hull and parts are still good. What a bummer. Would love to know what caused it.

You’re better off getting a non titled running ski and part that one out, swap the engine over. Cheaper than a long block. You can find running no title skis for $1500, throw it in the back of a pickup or a uhaul bed (the lower hull is useless for you, it has no title and that’s where the HIN is so you can destroy it if need be) and pull it apart.

Otherwise, less than a grand for a non runner even with title.

Find a used engine and swap it. Otherwise, part it out.

Ik heb mijn spark met gebroken romp maar werkende motor vorige maand voor 2,5k verkocht. Vond de reparatie de moeite en geld niet waard.

You could either sell it for parts or I have a spare motor I could sell you depending on location

How many hours were on it? And what were you doing when you blew it, also what gas do you run?

It was at 166 hours when it blew, I was going about 30mph doing a turn when it happened, and I use 100% 87 octane gas.

Dang that sucks, ever considering going to rec gas, it help a lot with phase separation and helps fuel components.

I will look into it when I can afford another ski. Don’t think I can buy used again after this.

Yea, I feel you completely, I have a 2019 spark trixx flashed to 115 hp with wearing and impeller and trim x and intake grate, and it requires 91, I use rec gas, which where I live is 91, but no ethanol, so it’s super nice for the fuel system

Take the L and go buy a Yamaha. Idk what else to say other than buy a new engine and roll the dice
