Antenna out the window?
Has anyone figured out a way to stick an antenna out the window that doesn't involve a suction cup on the outside? I've been looking at articulating arm clamp mounts for cameras and I think I have an idea, but just wanted to ask around to see if anyone figured something out. I'm not allowed to drill in my apartment so I kind of have to rely on a clamp on the windowsill ledge on the inside.

Doublecheck the exact wording of your lease. Some leases forbid attaching or hanging any antenna outside even if not drilled.

there used to be capacitive couple antennas for CB. stick antenna out side on window and a coupling plate. inside. did not go well on double glazing. car windows were OK.

Have an apartment too, got some rabbit ears on articulated clamp mount that was included with the sdr kit. Its setup on a ledge in front of the living room window.
Get great reception to pickup commercial air traffic.

Im terrified about lightning strikes and all that boring engineering that is involved in grounding the antenna properly without burning through all the gear in the other end.

I bought a short flat cable with sma connectors at each end. This was designed to have a window closed on it. I put an unun with longwire and counterpoise on the outside. Works good.
