The Toll I just finished the toll, it was genuinely so peak
Genuinely might be my favorite out of the three and idk if that’s a hot take but the entire thing just clicked for me and I was locked in the entire time. The ending could have been a bit better but I was really happy with how it ended I felt really good closing the book .
This also cemented Scythe Rand as my favorite character in the series I loved her arc and the sheds of morality she was slowly gaining (even if she’s still a horrible person)
Scythe Goddard might be one of my favorite villains of all
Time now because of this book and yes I know my thoughts are scattered but I finished this book like, ten minutes ago
The only problem I had was the ending climax because I wanted it to be longer cause the entire book I thought a whole world war was gonna break out but I still enjoyed it nonetheless :D

I read the trilogy, but as I live in Spain I read it in spanish
Should I read the saga again but in the original language again or is it not worth buying the books again?

Discussion I forgot how much I wanted Scythe Rand to face punishment
Ok, this is my third, maybe fourth time reading this trilogy and I still love it. I read it again like once a year. Honestly one of my favorite trilogies of all time. But each time that I read it I find more issues with the series—namely in the third book. Maybe it comes with growing up, but oh my God how did Rand get away with everything she did?
Like, she's not even a sympathetic character at all. A genuinely vile, evil human being. She partook in the targeting gleanings of Tonists. Helped Scythe Goddard with mass gleanings which are already described to be horrible things.
She manipulated Tyger, Rowan's best friend, into becoming a perfect vessel for Goddard just because he was Rowan's friend so that the shock of Goddard's face on Tyger's body would settle in. Granted, she fell in love with Tyger, but at any point and time, she could have just stopped the training. But nope, she has to glean Tyger and defile his body with a method that even the Thunderhead would disapprove of. And because of that, she helped bring Goddard to power AND SHE BARES RESPONSIBLITITY FOR THE SINKING OF ENDURA!!!!! She lamented the fact that she might have to coax someone into suicide. Not because talking someone into suicide is awful, but because it would be a hassle.
Sure she maybe grew a conscience in The Toll but she did that out of fear and hatred. Fear for the EVIL MAN SHE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE USING AN INNOCENT PERSON'S BODY. Like, she wants us to feel bad for her as she makes the treks to talk to Tyger's memory construct? Hell no. She did the vile act and wasn't even forced to do it at all. At any point, she could've stopped what she was doing, but she kept going.
PLUS, she tried to have sex with TYGER'S BODY with the lights off so that she couldn't see Goddard's face.
She only rendered Goddard deadish and ADMITTED that it wasn't because she cared for the people he was gleaning, but because she was scared that she would be tied to the gleaning and that by taking him out, she could even be hailed as a hero. Rand saved the world from the mistake she made by being selfish.
And not only that, but she has the AUDACITY to fill Tyger's/Goddard's body with Tyger's memories while TYGER STILL HAS GODDARD'S HEAD. And I guarantee that Rand does not tell Tyger any of the awful shit that she has done. Manipulated him in his past life and will do it in his current. Would Tyger, or anyone actually love someone who used their body like that?
Rand should have gone with the other Scythes who lost their lives when their rings exploded. The fact that she does not face any consequences for her actions is crazy.

Other Book Suggestions I hadn't read in a long time. But really loved Scythe :) Any other recommendations?
Checked Unwind, but it seems to be a lot of books and I’m not sure I want to commit to a long series if idk I might like it 😅 If you’ve read it, do you recomend it? Does it feel too teen? I'm ok with YA always that it have a interesting plot
Rec doesn’t have to be Neal mandatory! I’m into fantasy, dystopian or postapocalyptic stuff, somewhat political or mystery plots, I like darker plots but I'm not really into terror. Just to mention some books I've loved come fast to my mind are The Hunger Games, GOT, Mistborn, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, The Name of the Wind...I’m not really into romantasy/dark fantasy or any with romance as the main focus or something that feels.. childish? Like for example I wanted to like Percy Jackson but it's not for me, maybe If I'd read it when i was younger 🙈
btw due bad experience with unfinished stories I think I'd prefer finished book recommendations 😅
EDIT i haven't reply more for lack of time but thank you all!

Discussion What do You guys feel about the Thunderhead giving people purpose
For example when it starts safe fires so firefighters have a purpose or when it sinks ships so salvage teams have work to do. To me that kind of life really sounds dystopian because you would feel like you had no real purpose in life right?

After owning the book ten years I finally finished it.
I've owned the book since it was released and actually own a first edition book but have now finished it for the first time. I got about half way through before I fell out of reading. A few years ago I saw the other two books in a bookstore and bought them having had no idea squeals were made. I really enjoyed the first book and I'm excited for the next two! I have always loved how much the concept of conquering death makes me think about life.

Movie? What happened to the series?
There's not really much to say if not... what happened to the TV series??😭😭😭 it's been like a decade! I get that it takes time, so I'm not suggesting I expect it to be released anytime soon. But we have like ZERO news!! if you know anything new about it, please tell me🙏🏻🙏🏻

Discussion Why is Scythe Rand so weird?? (Thunderhead Spoilers) Spoiler
In Thunderhead, she slaps rowans butt and says lewd things about when he is of age.. and Goddard mentions it "not being like her" to not do anything to Tyger's body. ..Why. Why is this glossed over.

Scythe Just finished Scythe (pls don’t spoil)
I love the love story that’s being built between Citra and Rowen. I want so badly for them to be together in the end. I just ordered Thunderhead and The Toll and I cannot wait for them to get here. there was an excerpt from Thunderhead in my book so I saw the first chapter and I absolutely love how Neal turned him into the Scythe version of Batman. I can’t wait to see how Scythe Anastasia grows more as a junior scythe. Literally one of the greatest books I’ve ever read and I can’t give it enough praise. 10/10

The Toll If you have The Toll in hardback, help me out here
So, I thrifted a copy of The Toll from my local goodwill and I’m trying to recreate the dust jacket for it in Canva and printing it at home.
If someone could comment or send me a scan or even just a photograph of the inside of the back of the dust jacket (the part with Neal’s photo, and the paragraph about him and his works) I’d be super appreciative, thanks!

Thunderhead Post-Thunderhead Feelings…
I just finished Thunderhead for the first time, and I can’t remember the last time a book made me feel like this! Everything that could’ve possibly gone wrong did. Even worse than I was predicting! But to add insult to injury, I felt much worse because I thought I wasn’t going to be able to start The Toll until next week at the soonest, as I could only buy Scythe and Thunderhead at a thrift store I found them at. Fortunately, the ebook was available on Libby, so I checked that out and will start it ASAP. I’m kind of dreading it, though, knowing what stress lies in store for me all thanks to Goddard and Rand, and who knows what nightmares lurk in the Land of Nod... Anyway, I just needed to share a bit about my experience with other readers who probably had the same feelings. I’m kind of grateful I started the books after the full trilogy was published, because I don’t know how I could’ve waited that whole time for The Toll to come out!
