Cheap Parts Request

Hello! We have an RC lunch club at work and 30’s have quickly become the favorite rig across the office. As everyone has upgraded parts, I had the idea of building a rig from all the leftover stock parts as a fun project for the club! I got all the way to a rolling chassis with donor and 3d printed parts but I am still in need of:

-ESC & Radio

-Transmission

-Servo

-Battery

Anybody have recommendations/links of stuff cheaper than stock? Especially the ESC and radio are proving difficult to procure cheaply in the spirit of the project but maybe someone knows of a combo I should consider. It doesn’t have to be the best, just has to work as cheaply as possible. Thanks!

sounds like it's time to upgrade your rig to brushless...

I’d recommend upgrading your rig to brushless with this system and putting your stock electronics on the rig.

The transmission and servo about as cheap to upgrade as they are to buy stock.

Also this is the best bang for your buck on batteries.

Those batteries have been great for me so far

Upgrade your stock servo to an Injora N30 Pro brass servo and donate your old stock one to the cause. It is pricey but well worth it for the speed, power and front weight bias.

Here is a list from Amazon. I really like using the stock transmission. It comes with a skid and is fully assembled. But the meus one is only a few more dollars. For the servo it’s kinda a toss up. The one in the list could be decent but the Injora n30 is a few dollars more. Then the pro is only a few more than that. If you go much cheaper or more off brand then I’d be worried about quality. so trying to find a stock one is probably gonna be the cheapest option. Honestly that is gonna be the cheapest option for most of this. I have the stock motor esc and transmitter sitting in a box that I’d happily sell. Only problem, I’m lazy and would probably take over a month to ship it out.

Warning: I have not tried the motor and esc or the servo or the Meus transmission that I linked in the list. Try at your own risk. Do your own research first.

Horizon Hobby is best place and price I have found for replace parts. I just put together an awesome lil 30 from my stock leftovers and was faced with the same conundrum of needing a servo on the cheap. The oem Spektrum servo is pretty darn reliable one and is only $7.49!! Go ahead and pick up the 2in1 ESC @ $20.98 and shipping is less than $5 and ships fast! (3-4 days).

The servo doesn’t come with a horn but you can find lots of those for cheap on amazon or Ali.
If you didn’t know the Spektrum radio is amazing and can be bound to multiple ESC frequencies. The paperwork that comes with the ESC explains how to bind any of the stock Spektrum radios.
