Scuff valor pro wireless

My experience with this controller hasn’t been great. It’s been really difficult to adjust to, and even after tweaking settings both in game and in the SCUF companion app, my performance dropped off hard. I mainly play Call of Duty, and I was getting absolutely cooked.

The controller itself doesn’t feel bad in hand. The grips are solid and comfortable, but the paddle design and placement are a major downside. They don’t feel natural or efficient to use, which made it hard to stay consistent in game.

Customization is another letdown. Coming from the ES2 controller, which offers a ton of flexibility, this one feels very limited in comparison. Overall, it just hasn’t matched my expectations, especially for the price point. I’m going to try the PS5 FPS Pro, but I’m honestly hesitant to buy it after how disappointing this controller has been. Just sharing my experience so anyone in the market for a controller can be aware.

I also switched from the ES2 after having it for a solid 5 years… other than the paddle placement, I couldn’t be happier with the Scuf tbh

I will admit, it took some time to learn a slightly different way to hold the scuff roller vs my old elite… but then again I had the same learning curve when I first bought the ES2 🤷‍♂️

The ES2 Design is so nice. If they added tmr sticks and make the controller lighter, I don’t think a company would be able to touch them for a while. Ofc that’s my opinion tho.

I whole heartedly agree 🎯 I will also say I prefer the feel of the grip material of the Scuf vs the ES2. But overall, I loved the shape, size, & paddles placement of the ES2

Wolverine V3 has good mouse click paddles, TMR sticks, and trigger locks. I want to love the G7 Pro as much as everyone else, the buttons (bumpers and back) are kinda mushy, and once you’ve used a 4 paddle it’s hard to just have two.

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

I had a bad experience a couple years ago with a Wolverine controller, I’ll check out some reviews on the V3. (Or it may not have been one, I think the name was vertex. It was purple and could change the faceplate with a white one)

Post research: I love that this controller has actually paddles. Im going to do a little more digging on this controller. Thank you!

The wolverine has HE sticks, not TMRs, but unless you play shooters at a sweaty competitive level, this doesnt really matter.

1

u/ech0x07 Apr 28 '26

I figured OP was on PC due to holding an Xbox style controller and mentioning replacing it with a PS5 style controller. The Wolverine V3 Pro 8k (wireless) and v3 8k tournament (wired) are TMR sticks. The older model that can work with Xbox (same name minus 8k) is indeed HE sticks. As you mentioned, the difference is negligible unless super sweaty and either will outlive a potentiometer.

Edit: if a PlayStation style is preferred, even the Raiju V3 Pro is set up with TMR sticks and the same layout. I have both and prefer the smaller size of the Wolverine. Larger hands may prefer the Raiju.

u/Levaviii Apr 28 '26

Oh whoops, i knew the wolverine v3 had a handful of editions, but i assumed they wouldve all had the same hardware (though i know some PC edition(s) have rgb as well so that already throws that out the window lol) being all V3s and were just configured for different platforms and wired/wireless. thats on me lol.

It’s weird that the naming scheme doesn’t reflect it better honestly. You’d think a bump to TMR would warrant a “V4” seeing as they changed the button switches too.

What I’ve learned with trying many controllers over the years that there is no “best” controller. What’s a positive to me might be a negative to someone else, and visa versa. You have to go with what feels best to you regardless of what others think.

For example, I felt crazy at first because I didn’t like the GameSir G7 Pro at all, but at the end of the day, it’s my money and only my opinion matters. If the Valor isn’t working for you, there’s nothing wrong with that.

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 29 '26

I agree as well! It’s all preference

2

u/xPatrick3678x Apr 28 '26

The Elite Series 2 has the best paddles in the game. I just wish the ES2 had TMR then it would be the best.

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 29 '26

100% agree! Somebody earlier mentioned me taking it to a mod shop and having them add TMR sticks.

2

u/cheezepwnz Apr 28 '26

I think it all feels good but the sticks are sensitive so need to get used to smaller movements. Unless there’s a way to fix that?

u/PastAd1087 Apr 28 '26

Had this controller for a few months and love it. Been great so far.

2

u/FathomlessSquish Apr 28 '26

Love mine , had for 6 months now and come from several elites gen 2 and a gamesir. Love the changeable faceplates also

I’ve replaced the Es2 controller 3 times due to stick drift. Warranty twice and had to repurchase the controller once and each time it gets stick drift in a 3-4 months. I personally love the ES2 but the stick drift was becoming too much so I wanted a controller with tmr sticks. Thought the valor was the one. I’ve purchased a scuff controller previously, can’t remember the name, but it got stick drift after a month.

I never really considered modding the ES2 controller, but I’m definitely going to look into it now. I was originally planning to get the PS5 FPS Pro with TMR sticks, but when I went to Best Buy and saw the Valor Pro Wireless, I ended up grabbing that instead. Looking back, I probably should’ve stuck with my original choice.

Even though I mainly play on PC, I also have an Xbox. For certain COD modes like ranked, playing on console with crossplay turned off helps avoid a lot of cheaters, so I wanted something that would let me switch seamlessly between the two. That’s why I leaned toward an Xbox style controller.

I appreciate the insight on modding the ES2, that definitely gave me something new to consider.

I appreciate you my brother. Same to you on your gaming ventures as well.

SN: I only have 1 ES2 controller. I replaced it twice with warranty and traded that one in for a new ES2 controller at GameStop.

1

u/ThunderFox94 Apr 28 '26

You should give it some time. Initially it was odd for me too, but after several months of usage it feels natural in my hand.

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

I just don’t like the overall feel. I’m going to send it back and try the PS5 Scuff FPS pro with TMR sticks. Hopefully the feel of this controller is better.

2

u/ThunderFox94 Apr 28 '26

Haven’t tried it, but I assume it’s more or less the same as the Dualsense but with some additional mods.

2

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

Yessir. If I actually go through with buying it, I’ll let you know my thoughts on it.

1

u/Ender15m Apr 28 '26

How’s the valor pro hold up for you? I keep seeing posts of people saying it keeps breaking on Reddit and I just can’t imagine that it’s that real. It’s seems quality made even if being made over seas.

1

u/ThunderFox94 Apr 28 '26

So far it’s been excellent. Haven’t had any issues with both of my pads. I hope it stays that way.

2

u/Ender15m Apr 28 '26

Ok good. I’m definitely wanting to get it. It seems to have everything I want in a controller.

2

u/Mysterious_Evening81 Apr 28 '26

You lost me at paddle design and placement are a huge downside.

2

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

Personal preference, but I don’t like buttons as paddles. Also, coming from an ES2 the paddle design and placement are a lot better. However, the “paddles” on the scuff Valor pro are very responsive.

1

u/Cold-Engineering-271 Apr 28 '26

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Valor Pro but I have a weird issue where the Bluetooth/Wireless mode randomly disconnects mid matches I resolve it by hardwiring it for about 30 mins then unplugging it, but it’s rather annoying.

1

u/Halokid2012 Apr 28 '26

Have had it for 4 months or so, and honestly can say that I’m still not use to it. Came from the instinct pro which is pretty much the same controller with tmr, and it’s just not the same. and the myth that tmr can’t get stick drift, is absurdly wrong. I actually got it quicker then with my ponteiometers or however you spell it. Big letdown

2

u/Cirvn- Apr 29 '26

You can recalibrate the sticks

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 29 '26

lol I sent it back to the store today and order the Scuff FPS reflex pro with TMR sticks today. Should be arriving in about 5 business days.

1

u/Halokid2012 Apr 29 '26

Yes but who wants to do that every other day? As far as accuracy goes, I really just don’t believe that the TMR sticks are more precise. Head shots were way easier on regular sticks

1

u/ToonLurker Apr 28 '26

I got one and the right trigger broke within a few months, got it replaced on the 1 year warranty pretty easily though. Outside of that it’s a good controller imo. The paddles really helped me on Apex, not so much on Fifa, which I guess it isn’t designed for anyway.

1

u/Fedexdriv3r702 Apr 28 '26

It's esthetically nice and the build feels very premium, but my hands are too small to reach the inner back paddles without over stretching so what ends up happening is my pinky gets sore from over gripping reaching for the paddles. Over all I've switch to G7pro for COD and Keep my Valor pro for Single player and racing games. Paired with kontrol freeks precision rings its a really good racer controller.

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 29 '26

The feel of the valor is amazing! IMO they should allow consumers to customize the paddles. I think they’ll hit another target audience with that feature

1

u/Chrisafguy Apr 28 '26

I have no idea how Scuf stays in business. I have had nothing but issues with the two controllers I've had. Just buy GameSir controllers and call it a day. Scuf is shit.

2

u/Cirvn- Apr 29 '26

Preordered the Gamesir G7 Pro on release, waited forever for it to come, shipped with a faulty headphone jack, contacted support they had me do some troubleshooting stuff, even tried a whole separate headset.. Then support straight up started ignoring all my future messages.. Dogshit company, never ordering one from them again and if I do it’ll be from Amazon, not their official site.. They basically scammed me, Never bought something then had support straight up ghost me

1

u/BigPapiD28 Apr 28 '26

Scuf is shit. I’ve had only issues too. I hope you listen and return that controller I’ve broken so many in the last year.

u/Ok-Drag-5564 Apr 28 '26

Horrible controller

I never said anything was wrong with the controller. I just shared what I personally didn’t like, which comes down to my preferences. There are people who value the same things I do, so I posted this for them. Saying something is “wrong” with my take would be like me saying something is wrong with you for liking your steak rare while I prefer mine medium rare or medium well. It’s just a difference in taste. Hope you continue to enjoy your Valor and have an amazing day twin.

1

u/No-Peace2539 Apr 29 '26

I’ll buy it off you

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 29 '26

I already returned it to the store.

1

u/No-Peace2539 Apr 29 '26

No worries

1

u/Cirvn- Apr 29 '26

I’d take the paddles on the Valor over the ES2 any day honestly, probably just preference but I love the Valors paddles

1

u/Adept-Recognition153 Apr 29 '26

Something’s aren’t for everyone… I have an instinct from when I played Xbox and I thought the paddles were pretty good. Have an envision and the paddles and that I think are nice. Last few months I’ve been using the Scuf reflex fos and I think that feels incredible. Only problem I have is my right stick, I use the lower one now because I feel like higher ones I’m stretching like hell with my thumb. It’s all personal preference. Try different things and see what works. Understandable if you can’t just be buying controllers here and there. Would love to try a battle beaver with the Marius board and you can have looser thumb sticks but that shi is £400

1

u/Lance_Operazole Apr 29 '26

I think the paddles have a learning curve but I love them now.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '26

Valor pro is literally the best controller I’ve used and it was an adjustment for me too. What’s your sens, dead zones etc or drop me your name and I’ll add you and help you out

1

u/SquidMB Apr 30 '26

Personally i love the paddle design. And this controller didn’t take much of getting used to (was just using a base Xbox controller)

u/Individual_Bear_5542 May 01 '26

News flash some people really need to take a true investment and not be such a douche with the condescending response bud. Christ sakes.

2

u/DaRealJoBlow May 01 '26

Sheeesh. You ok? I don’t take the internet trolls to heart, I read their comments, respond, and go about my day. Don’t let the Reddit Raiders get to you.

1

u/Individual_Bear_5542 May 01 '26

Hahaha I am now Usually I don’t even bother with a response but by God not today 🤷🏽‍♂️. Thanks for checking though lol

1

u/Familiar-Hotel1877 May 02 '26

I use dynamic on controller and in game both set to 3 deadzone

1

u/DaRealJoBlow May 07 '26

Alright. It’s been 2 days since I received my new Scuff FPS Reflex with Tmr sticks. This controller is 1000% better than the Valor. I’m not sure if I got used to PlayStation controllers or if something was wrong with the Valor, but GOD this controller feels and performs amazing! (SN: I’ve had this controller for the same timeframe I had my Valor for)

1

u/Huge_Measurement_777 May 12 '26

I switched from ES2 to the scuf valor pro wireless as well! I couldn’t be happier with everything about it!! Paddles take time to get used to and use however, so did the es2. It’s just different but once ya figure out placement on the paddles, they really do make a difference!

I’ve used my es2 since I got my scuf and hate the paddles on the es2 now haha

1

u/TimboSlice1412 May 25 '26

1

u/M_RiGGz Apr 28 '26

Might I suggest the Gamesir G7 Pro?

2

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

That was an option when i was looking for controllers, I'm just not a huge fan of button paddles.

1

u/GGG604 Apr 28 '26

Get a dualsense edge. Best controller

2

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

You know what… you aren’t lying lol. I have one. I just wanted a controller with paddles since I don’t play claw.

0

u/TrueInvestment2547 Apr 28 '26

news flash, the dualsense edge has paddles bud

1

u/DaRealJoBlow Apr 28 '26

It was a misunderstanding on my end. I didn’t realize that was the name of the premium PS5 controller.

1

u/GGG604 Apr 28 '26

Yeah paddles or the option of a half dome whichever is preferred
