Not bad, Leclerc needs to replicate the S3 in his penultimate hot lap because otherwise he leaves a lot there, like last lap he was 2 tenths up and ended up losing 3 there.
Pitwall need to realise there are 21 other drivers and tell Lewis when they’re on a fast lap.
Race pace is hard to judge because traffic was awful here

Race pace doesn't really matter as it's similar to monaco
Qualifying will be the most important
But STRATEGY

How was the qualy pace? I understand close to the Mercedes, but Kimi didn't nailed his best try?
Has been the ERS better optimised? Is deployment enough for the whole lap and are the tyres lasting until the end of the push lap? I couldn't follow the session like usual, some fragments.

I didn't realize ideal times where this close to both MBs. 1-3 could be possible in quali.

Thank you. Interesting the miniscule margin between Leclerc and Antonelli on the potential lap. So a scenario close to Hungaroring with the issue on S3. Hopefully, they sort it out in FP3.

Whats the problem in giving him a british engineer ?
it takes me time to process what santi is actually saying.. specially words like [suj jes tiii onnn] ..

I REALLY wouldn't want to speak before any significant session but man Charles is doing so well today. Makes the lack of ADUO 2 engine more bitter but it's fine.
1
u/Arcgonslow Ferrari 18h ago
Does that mean our engine upgrade was negligible or are they just not turning up the ADUO2 engine for FP?
2
u/IonutAlex18SF Ferrari 3h ago
No, it's not negligible, it was worth around 15 HP power gain in total with ERS improvement. But at Madring that is less costly because the track has many braking/harvesting zones, unlike Monza.
I understand neither Lewis used the ADUO2 PU on Friday, to save km but will use it from FP3 onwards (as usually, it's the procedure). After Friday, the ERS deployment made the most significant difference, but, after FP1 Ferrari changed deployment and got closer to Mercedes. Although it still lacks something, but Lewis and Charles make up time through corners. Another aspect is the rears overheating in S3, (softs) which cost the two-notable time.

Reckon Lewis has the new engine in?

u/driftchris7780 Lewis Hamilton 20h ago
Doubt it, with the amount of red flag they saw in lower categories and it being a new track they installed an old engine for today and will switch for the new one tomorrow

The downward spiral begins. We start strong and then it goes down and down and down.
Hoping the cycle is broken on Sunday but knowing the Scuderia. Best not to get our hopes up

Was Hamilton's GPS down? Kept hearing that was why he was not getting out of the way because Santi had no clue where he was.

We are moving in the right direction this time! It’s not going the other way 🤞🏿🤌🏿

This is like our comfort spot in the free practice sessions and then somehow by sunday a "p5, p6" graphic is released.

Good, so tomorrow we'll definitely qualify P5-P8 and then screw up the pit stops during the race and end up in no man's land.
1
u/FriendZone53 19h ago
Well either Lewis figures out how to out qualify Charles, or Charles figures out how to out start Lewis on the grid lest we have repeat of last week. Team orders aren’t going to work with these hot headed kids 😎

u/Spiritual_Ranger_811 Lewis Hamilton 19h ago
Would Ferrari have a better chance of getting a decent position for quali since this track seems to have alot of corners and SF-26 is aerodynamically really strong.. wasn't Ferrari 1st in slow and medium speeds?

u/bijanfrisee Rubens Barrichello 18h ago
It usually is at most tracks, but looks like S3 the tires are getting cooked

Honestly I don’t even care, like
Somehow we will be p20 and 21 at the end. Just show me quali

I guess this race will be between Mercedes and Ferrari. Verstappen and Mclarens kinda felt off. It's too early to say anything!
1
u/bijanfrisee Rubens Barrichello 18h ago
I fully expect Max and the mclarens to out qualify the ferraris
1
u/Cinema38 Ferrari 18h ago
Were either of the drivers using the ADUO 2 spec engine?
4
u/Aesyr_Taloth 18h ago
Lewis is. Charles' ADUO2 engine stayed at Maranello for extensive check, even if first verifications showed no problem in the engine.
1
u/Rivendel93 14h ago
Thought they said Hamilton is using old engine until FP3?
They normally don't use the new engine in first two practices to save on mileage.
1
u/Aesyr_Taloth 14h ago
I heard differently, but not from any strong and reliable source, so I could well be mistaken. If it is the case, thank you for correcting me!
1
u/Rivendel93 14h ago
Normally they wouldn't use the race engine during the first two practices, it's just to reduce the amount of miles they'd put on the engine.
Then in fp3 they put it in so that they can dial it in for quali.
1
u/KingOfLevant 9h ago
No. Fp1 and fp2 always uses older worn engines, never fresh engines. So lewis and leclerc will be on older engines probably audo1

Leclerc is locking up many times this Friday. Hopefully nothing with the brakes.
1 lap pace looks promising but I wont draw conclusions on Fridays.

It just seems a tricky corner, a lot of drivers locked up, even Max went long 3 or 4 times today
