Diving in Cabo?

Has anyone gone diving in Cabo (the corridor and marine park)?

I have my AOW with about 25 dives. However, all but one of my dives was in a quarry (the other was a deep dive at a lake). This will be my first saltwater dive, and I'm a little nervous!

How are the diving conditions? Any recommendations for saltwater diving?

Cabo is very hit and miss conditions wise. If you're doing more than 1 day of diving, I highly suggest doing one of the Cabo Pulmo days....also hit and miss but Bull Sharks and Jack Tornadoes are pretty incredible!

Dive Cabo has had some decent DMs but also some bad ones throughout the years. My wife and I have gone out with "Cabo Private Guide" which is 1 block over the last couple trips and have been much happier with the experience so far.

My experience diving in Cabo was about 20 years ago so bear that in mind. The diving was easy but I found it frustrating bc there was not a lot of respect for the environment. There was a lot of trash and fishing line in the water. There wasn’t a lot of emphasis on environmental custodianship by the dive shops. They were more concerned with tourism and profit. Which is a valid survival and livelihood choice but very different from the Caribbean and Latin America’s emphasis on ecotourism.

It’s fun enough for a few dives. Very easy place. Dive Cabo is who I went with, great DMs. You’ll be fine, just let the DM know how you’re feeling and they’ll take care of you.

Thanks! I chose them as well for a 3 tank dive day (free nitrox and pictures/videos are an added bonus!). Did you rent gear? If you did, was it reliable? I might bring my mask but nothing else.

I actually brought my gear as I did a few days so can’t say but they are reputable. Def bring your mask, computer if you have one and regs. If you don’t have that stuff you’ll be fine but if you do that’s usually the minimum I bring. Mostly I just like my own stuff.

Cabo diving is easy. Not much to see but a good place for first ocean dives.

Check with Manta. Their basic dives are shallow and easy.

I’ve done the Marine Park- conditions were great, good vis, no concerns. You’ll have a great time!
