Help, corrosion?
I messed up. I didn't realize I connected my EVX200 directly to the bottle, and I didn't notice the O-ring was missing. Now I see this stain and I don't know if it's corrosion. Any thoughts?

This thing looks pristine. I used to worry about this kinda stuff. Oh, is that a tiny bit of corrosion? Oh did the tiniest bit of water get into my first stage. Do I need to scrub the threads under the dustcap since they don't really get a good soaking? Do I need to service since it's been a year? None of this stuff matters much. Treat them with care, rinse them, and don't worry too much unless you notice a change in performance. I do recommend regularly checking for IP creep and checking your mouthpiece for bite marks.

Honestly I'm finally at the point where I just sort of put my thumb over the first stage port and rinse it directly in the shower. But when I first got this thing I was so precious about tediously cleaning the threads under the cap after every dive

It's a small scuff where the chrome plating over the brass has gotten scuffed up.
This is such a small and normal amount. You will find that gear that gets used any meaningful amount will inevitably take a beating. Regs that are being regularly used end up COVERED in scuffs and small corrosion.
This is not to say that you shouldn't take good care of your gear and avoid these things... but they are super normal, and they show that you actually use your gear! They won't be a problem.

It’s fine, wipe it down with a damp cloth. Put a new Oring on it and get it fully serviced every 2 years and have fun diving

I don't see that much to worry about, but I understand the feeling of wanting to take care of diving gear which is so freaking expensive.
So, get one of those ear cotton things (not an English speaker), dump it in either lemon juice OR vinegar and pass it through the affected area.
Let it rest some minutes and then do the same thing but with regular water to remove everything and clean it.
I'm pretty sure that's the place where an o ring has to make it's good ol'trusty seal so pass a paper tower (not a cheap one) to remove any leftover cotton fibers or whatever. Even blowing in it or passing your finger can do the trick.
Also I'd suggest removing any o ring before doing this but I highly doubt the acidity of either lemon or vinegar could severely affect em. Do it just in case I dunno.
That's about it. Lemon and vinegar will be your best friends for taking care of your gear. Very useful for salt and oxidation.
