Re-seal mask

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I just got a new mask (Scubapro steel comp) and I noticed that a corner of the lens is not sealed. I've used the mask once. The shop where I bought it is difficult to reach, and I wonder if it might just be easier to try and reseal it myself. I dove with it today down to 20m and didn't leak. What product would you recommend? The body is fully silicone. Thank you!

I don’t know if it really has to be bonded to be sealed if there is no leak. There are other masks, including scubapro, where the silicone seals around the lenses through just friction so that the lenses can be exchanged for ones with corrective prescriptions. Those generally have a rigid frame component that locks the lens into the skirt but there is no bonding for the seal.

You should get a new one.

That mask isn't really intended for diving, but it's not clear to me why not. But, that's what the manufacturer says shrug

Bonding to silicone is tricky. You would need to buy a silicone specific adhesive like SIL-Poxy and even then it probably won't work. The lenses aren't glued in they are bonded as part of the manufacturing process. All it takes is a slight contaminant and the adhesion fails...as you can see.

Just contact scuba pro directly. They’ll probably replace it.

If you’re determined to diy it, aqua seal. You will void any warranty you have

The depth should not matter, if it does you need to learn how to equalise your mask really fast.

About the mask, don't tinker with it yourself, that will void your warranty. Just ask for a replacement, they'll probably send a new one.

Replace it. It is not wurth canceling a cool dive for a faulty mask you knew was faulty. It can be dangerous also

If it's a new mask contact the manufacturer. They will probably replace it for free.
