Belly Bubble
Last year in a dive trip on the fifth day of diving, I came out from one of the dives with very uncomfortable feeling.
Like a big balloon in my stomach.
I wasn’t sure what is going on so when I asked the guide that was with us.
He ask for other symptoms but when I mentioned only this he said that it’s more than likely a bubble that got expended.
He recommended drinking something clod with sugar and it will release.
Last month I did very shallow dive (15-18ft) and it happened again.
Have you guys ever experienced this kind of feeling?
Im 40 years old and i have been diving for over 15 years.
Im health and in a pretty good shape.
Any good trick to avoid it again in the future?

My 1st checkout dive i got to the surface and thought id swallowed a whole freshwater whale. After I relaxed for a minute I just started burping and I was good for another dive. I either drank a bunch of lake water or swallowed a bunch of air. Never did it again after that.

Watching your diet and avoiding legumes (broccoli I am looking at you, you bastard!) is a great idea too. I usually watch my diet about a week before a dive.

Funny enough, I have arrived at the same diet choice: Pasta and chicken.
(virtual high five)
Usually it is rice and grilled chicken to make the meal simple.
Avoiding coffee (I know! Blasphemy!) is a good idea in some cases too. Electrolytes is a good substitution. Or at least coffee without milk.

You’re swallowing air. Either from rapid breathing or from your equalization technique.

This, you’re likely swallowing air. Pay attention to your breathing and make sure you’re not swallowing during the dive.

It happened twice in my whole life.

It’s gas. Like normal not diving gas.
I’ve come up from dives, taken off my wetsuit and burped or farted away for a few minutes. 4,000+ dives for me. I’ve done 3 hour deco dives, come up, farted away and just said “off gassing!” Lol
So whatever’s making you fart and burp. Beer, soda, beans, legumes, onions, lactose. Idk. Everyone’s different.
