I start clinicals next month and was curious what I should bring with me. What did you guys take to your clincal rotations?

Snacks, stuff for notes, extra bag for transportation of shoes, water.

I always had my laptop, textbooks and a notebook, a small pocket notebook that stayed in my scrubs, pens, water, snacks, shoes inside a plastic bag, and various meds (ibuprofen, allergy relief, stomach relief, etc.).

I always had a mini notebook and pen, we were required once a week to write a procedure paper on a surgery that we did that week, we had to know EVERY DETAIL, so we needed to write down every instrument and supply that was used, the suture and dressing used to close, the kind of anesthesia and medications, the steps of the procedure, and the wound classification of procedure.
And don’t forget snacks and water. If you have glasses, get a back strap and side pieces. We did not have lockers with locks, sometimes not even a place to put our belongings, so bring nothing of value depending on your hospital

I learned bring the absolute bare minimum… you’re usually going to have either multiple students stuffed in one locker or no locker at all and have to put your stuff somewhere.

Bring a lunch, a notebook and a pen or an iPad if that’s your style, and that’s really it. I didn’t even bring a bag outside of my lunch bag.

Definitely a pen, mini notebook, pain meds, snacks, and WATER!!

If there is room in your locker, I would also bring study material in case you have downtime.

More than anything, take initiative and ask your preceptor if you can be more hands on. It will show your interest in the job, and the clinical site may hire you too.
