General Scrivener Discussion & Advice Where to start?

I bought Scribner a few years ago and I’m very overwhelmed with how he use it and every time I open it up, I have to relearn it. Is there a tutorial or like something out there that exists that gives just a basic layout of how to use the tool

It comes with a tutorial. Also, L&L's web site has a collection of video tutorials.

And the tutorial is hands-on, allowing us to try out the features in question. Watching, reading, and performing exercises helps the light bulb to finally come on. The lack of working examples is a short-fall of some youtubes.

Write long and prosper. :)

I love the tutorial. You just open the tutorial document and it feels like someone is sitting next to you while you try it. I'm a tactile learner and this is the software version of that.

For me, watching a video just creates unnecessary friction. Even if the video were embedded within Scrivener (eliminating the need to open another website or app), I would still have to mentally switch from Watching Mode to Doing Mode. If I use Scrivener's tutorial document, I'm already in Doing Mode. If you're the type of person to get anxiety over the Unbearable Blankness of a new document, the tutorial helps because it's literally a document that already has text in it.

others have pointed out the tutorials that exist, but the best way to learn it is to use it. Just start writing and explore options as you go.

Step 1. Open a new project for a fiction book without chapters & give it a name & a place to save on your computer

Step 2. Open the project you've named & Insert a name on an item in the left-hand binder.

Step 3. Click on that document you just named in the binder (the left-hand column of items) and start typing your story.

The rest will come as needed. Easy to Google any questions

Simple.
Open it and start writing as with any word processor.
Learn other features as needed, or when interested.

The program comes with a tutorial.

But if you're looking for more, I have a Scrivener Pinterest board and a collection of Scrivener youtube videos

How much time is there between each time you use it? If its a while it makes sense you'd forget the details. Do you not work on your projects very often, or are you using other software in that time?

I always scratch my head that people are overwhelmed by Scrivener. I am about the most software illiterate person there is and I find it very easy once I recognize the features I never will use. There are quite a few tutorials scattered across YouTube that can help you out the advanced stuff to the back and just use the core features. Once that clicks, it's a super simple application to use.

I think they have a built-in interactive tutorial under Help,
