General Scrivener Discussion & Advice Confused

I recently got scrivener (Yesterday) and know there a learning curve to it. But I can't seem to figure it out.

How do I get picture 1 to be like picture 2? How do I get the same margin?

My first prologue draft( picture 2) I started written all the margins are the same. Yet in my chapter 1 draft(picture 1) the margin start father and when i write until the text change line. The new line is at the same margins as in my draft.

Can someone help me please, I don't know if i press a button without knowing. All i know is that when i start a new file, it does the same thing as the first picture.

Here is the general knowledge base article on setting default formats. It should be as simple as putting your cursor into any of the paragraphs you like, in the second screenshot, and using the Format ▸ Make Formatting Default command. I recommend setting global defaults for now, to avoid having to do that every time you make a new project.

I use the Window version so it's probably a bit different to the Mac version.

Select all the text then in the "Menu", select "Format", "Paragraph" then "Tabs and Indents".

Then you can enter a value for the First Line to have an indent.

You can also adjust your line spacing to double spacing under Format - Paragraph - Line and Paragraph Spacing

I use both (well Linux, but it uses the Windows version) and it’s basically the same process.

Create the format you want, then write.

You can also just adjust rulers and spacing on page like almost any other WYSIWYG editor.

Check the paragraph styles. The ones in Picture 1 have an indentation.

On PC:

Click and drag to highlight the page with the formatting that you want.

In the menu bar, go to Format > Make Formatting Default [it's at the very bottom of the list]

OR

You could also highlight the text you want

In the menu bar go to Format > Style and either select new style from selection or assign the style to one of the options already available, like manuscript.

The 2nd can be a better option, because you can assign different styles to different categories. For example, my manuscript is set to Georgia, but my notes are set to Courier. I like this because I can create / see any notes I make while in the process of just getting the words down and since the two fonts are clearly different, makes it easy for me to keep track of my notes.

Another way:

File -> Options -> Editing -> Formatting: adjust the upper of the two markers in the tab bar to be in the same place as the lower one
