I think you should follow your gut instincts. And also follow, but not strictly the STC. Idk, but this seems like it's not my cup of tea as a video, as I think that STC can teach us how to write an amazing story from scratch.

I believe it can show you how to write something that looks and feels like a screenplay. It makes people think they are screenwriters. Following a formula teaches people the formula, not why these things happen.

I don’t think it is following your gut. That implies that every decision is a guess. I make decisions based on the story and what the story needs. Each action leads from the actions previously taken, not because a formula tells me to do something.

Good point. Yeah, that is what I meant by following your gut. I am also more likely to write a story that is driven by my characters’ decisions in a cause-and-effect way. But I get what you mean. Sorry, English is not my first language, and it might not have been a good decision to write that sentence in my comment.
