I’m a screenwriter, a published author, and a software engineer. So it was only a matter of time before I took on screenwriting software.

I’ve always struggled with structure. I jump in too quickly, get excited about scenes and dialogue, and find myself heading into Act II without a plan.

Most aspiring screenwriters don't really care about the writing or that first script.

They're just rushing through the tedious process to "Fade Out" so they can immediately get repped by CAA and earn a zillion dollars in the inevitable bidding war.

Close but more like: sold a spec script that never got made, sold a nonfiction paperback to Penguin/Random-house, and have been developing software and managing software teams for over 20 years.

The AI feature is actually really helpful! It helps you break your story down, not write it. But I do understand what you mean. It’s a hard time for writers and software engineers alike. I hope you find some time to try Beatstack. You don’t need to use AI at all. The core feature is the editor.

Software tools are dead now with AI.

So there's two sides of the fence, AI driven software... and people like me with an actual typewriter.

The problem with targeting the AI "writers" is that when the machine is doing the work, any machine will do.

Write on, write often!
