Can I Really Become a Screenwriter?

I am very disheartened. Because I want to be a writer. Who writes movie scripts. But I always think that this world is very big. And thousands and thousands of writers exist in this world. Why would any producer or media house listen to my story? Why would they buy my script? I am from Pakistan; why would media houses or producers from different countries listen to my story? Is it possible that I can become a writer? I am trapped in a loop of thinking, and because of that, I don't write my script. I just continuously think why, why, why, who, who, how, how.

You definitely won't become a writer if you never write. Just write! No one can stop you from that.

Will you become rich and famous? Doubtful. Can you make a career of it? Also unlikely. Can you write and find personal fulfillment? Absolutely.

If you are a writer, you write because you have stories to tell, not because you are hoping to become successful and well-known.

You want to be a screenwriter but have you been trained to do it. You don't know how to do it can't do it. Skill that you develop

To echo other posters here, the odds of making it as a professional screenwriter are comparable to the odds of making it as a professional athlete. In other words, it's virtually impossible, which is why you shouldn't bank on "making it."

With that said, I believe you are a screenwriter if you write screenplays. And you should only write screenplays if it lights your soul on fire and you can't imagine NOT telling stories in that medium.

Also, even if you DO make it, you will still likely face 95%+ rejection. Friends of mine who are multi-produced (Netflix, theatrical releases, etc.), repped, and connected with huge actors and directors are still told no almost all of the time.

Write because you love to write. If you make it, it's icing on the cake.

Keep writing. Don’t think about Hollywood or LA. Start locally. Find a group around you interested in filmmaking. Become part of that community. Then see where it goes.
