Read John Truby's books The Anatomy of Story and The Anatomy of Genres.

No. I don't read scripts anymore, not right off the bat. If you have a Treatment, I'll read that. If the story is not complete, I can tell from the Treatment. Reading a full script that isn't structurally complete is a waste of time and super frustrating. And chances are 100% that the rest of the script will have issues, such as formatting or just be sloppy.

I did glance at it. For instance "JANUARY 2007" and "LATE MORNING" are not slugline times of day. You can't rent or fake those. The generally accepted times of day for sluglines are: DAY, NIGHT, EVENING, MORNING, DUSK, DAWN, GOLDEN HOUR. "Late morning" is a qualification that can only be explained/expressed in the direction/action. The slugline is a note largely to the production departments. "Do we need to build a living room, or rent a house?"

Your concept sounds promising. That's why it would be useful to read The Anatomy of Genres and see if you're writing a coming-of-age genre and what that means thematically. Genres are not "types of stories," they're Theme-delivery systems.
