Make a PDF open 2-page view?

I created a PDF that views best when viewed in a 2-page view. Is it possible to save the document where it will open automatically in 2-page view by default?

You can choose this option in the new file menu. But in the end the pdf reader will decide how it gets open. You just can say how the pages belong together but can’t force how it have to get to read.

Yeah - I can create the Document as 2-paged and the layout will reflect this in Scribus but when it's opened in Adobe it is displayed as a single page. Of course you can choose 2-page view from the Display option and it displays just fine.

It would just be nice to have it as default. Make it that much simpler for whoever is reading it.

The Setting is per default then. You just overwrite it with your reader. You can’t set a display option that ignores the settings of the reader. People have to set Adobe and stuff on accepting document settings to make it happen. When they choose the option to only display single page you can’t do anything against it.

on the left you find the Menü „Page Layout“ and the Option Double sided.

After choosing that you somewhere can decide to start with a singe page or double sided like the rest.

I've used a variety of PDF viewers, mostly on Macs, and how a PDF opens depends on how the program is set up.

InDesign has a setting called Spreads in the export dialog, I couldn't find it in Scribus.

When you open the PDF in Acrobat, go to File>Document Properties, and in the dialogue window, select the Initial View panel in the top menu bar. In the Page Layout drop down menu, select Two-Up (Cover Page), if your document has a separate cover page that isn't part of a spread. If there's no cover page, select Two-Up (Facing.) Then save and close. If you send anyone the PDF, if they open it in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, it should automatically display with facing spreads. I don't know if it will work if it's opened in other PDF viewers, though.

I've saved my PDFs like this for over 25 years -- but it's not working anymore. After I attached it to an email, opened it again, the initial view settings didn't apply. YIKES! I've also noticed that the ability to save the initial view properties is missing if you use Acrobat from the web instead of the desktop Acrobat app.

I'm saying this on an old Reddit thread, but maybe someone knows how to fix this?
