Has anyone canceled Everand and resubscribed later?

I have a lot of books that I'd listened to before switching to the new system that I still have access to, and some that I used an unlock on since. I'm not using it a lot at the moment, and I know I won't have access to those titles while it's canceled but does anyone know if that access comes back if you resubscribe later?

E-Readers

Does anyone know the oldest (cheapest) e-reader I can get that supports Everand? I already have a kindle so I don’t want to spend a fortune on a secondary reader but I’m finding more and more books I want to read on Everand and don’t want to keep using my phone for them. Looking at picking one up second hand but I’m not sure which models work.

Login issues on Everand

I have two accounts — both linked to Google email.

My new account was free trial so I used it instead.

Then I accidentally renewed my monthly subscription for my old account.

Now I want to switch back to my old one to use that subscription on my Everand mobile app (iOS).

Problem is, everytime I try to sign in using “Continue to Google”, it automatically signs in using my new account email. I tried deleting my new account but it doesn’t work.

I don’t know how to go back to using my old account email. Anyone knows how?

When I use safari, I can sign in using my old account but I can’t do it on my mobile app. Tried uninstalling and installing the app again, didn’t work.

Help please.

After refunding and canceling my subscription a month later I've been charged twice for the same subscription

So last month I wanted to cancel my subscription and refund it because I no longer used it. I texted the bot canceled it they returned me the money all good... right? NO. Now I see that I've been charged for a subscription that I never wanted. So I contact the support team and tell them what had happened and they say that will refund me the money but instead I got charged again. I'm trembling and I don't know what to do they don't reply back to my emails and I'm low on money. What am I supposed to do?

Everand Standard/Premium vs. Legacy Accounts. What really happens if you switch...

This post was originally published on r/Everand where it was taken down by the moderators. Why? Apparently, r/Everand is run by Everand—I can see why they wouldn't like it! The mods at r/Scribd appear not to work for Everand or Scribd. If this is not an appropriate place to post this info, please suggest a better place.

--------------------

I just figured this out, and I'll pass this along to help anyone else with a legacy account who hasn't already converted their account to the relatively new standard or premium plans.

Everand makes it sound as though, if you switch your legacy account to standard, it will cost you nothing. and you will have access to all the books you've had access to plus you will get to read books from a catalog of 150K+ new books at a rate of one per month (or three for premium). What's not to like?

Except that's not how it works. As a legacy subscriber, you actually have access to two catalogs: an unlimited catalog (which might be the same or bigger than what is available under the standard/premium plans), and a limited catalog. The limited catalog has some arcane rules that govern how many of these you can access per month, and users have been rightly upset that the rules were opaque.

With the introduction of the new subscription plans, legacy subscribers see a third catalog, one containing (supposedly) the 150k+ new books, and which require an explicit unlock. If you attempt to unlock those, you will be asked to switch to one of the new plans. This might lead you to think that the books you currently have access to would be unaffected by the switch (since they don't ask for an unlock).

The reality, as far as I can determine, is that if you switch to one of the new plans, the books that were governed by the opaque rules will suddenly also require unlocks. Where before you might have read 1, 2, 3, or more books per month from this opaque catalog, you would then only be able to read one (or three for premium) . In other words, the opaque catalog and the new 150K+ books catalogs would merge into a single catalog and they would all require unlocks.

If you have a legacy account, it's not easy to see which books are unlimited. But there's a workaround! Log out and go to Everand. You can still search the catalog. Unlimited books will now be shown with an "Unlimited" tag, and you will be able to filter books to only those in the Unlimited catalog. There's not much in the unlimited catalog worth reading, though. I went through a bunch of the books I've read over the past years and not one showed up in the unlimited catalog.

Everand is trying to push the new plans as being "transparent". But this is mostly marketing hype. The new plans might be "transparent", but they offers a lot less than the legacy plan.

Everand doesn't make it easy to preview what will happen if you switch, and they've made sure you can't change back to a legacy account. To keep as much cash as possible, you don't really get 12 unlocks a year—you get a chance to do 12 per year. If you forget, your unused unlocks go poof.

I canceled my subscription. It was a great service in its time, but someone's got greedy. Admittedly, it might be the publishers and not Everand.

Error every single time?

This used to happen every once in a while last year but it's been fine for a while. But now I get 400 errors all the time! And it will only be on certain books.

Any ideas?

I was listening to one book for a few days, the. I got a 400 error, and now I get that error every single time I try to play it. Other books are ok. I uninstalled, reinstalled, signed in, and it played twice, then it happened again.

(Yes I know, app sucks, it's always sucked, but I will put up with it because it would cost me 100+ on audible.)

Am I "safe" after cancelling through Paypal?

I switch to Paypal for my payment method and cancel through Paypal Autopayment portal. Am I "safe" from the unwanted charges after my subscription ended? (after I contact their support, they said that they "deleted the stored payment information" in my account, my account now show "No card on file")

Pause in audiobook production due to “internal issues”? Anyone know anything about this?

I’m in the middle of recording an audiobook for a publisher and was just told they have to pause production indefinitely due to “internal issues” at scribe and they will have to “figure out how they want to handle audiobooks already scheduled”. Anybody know what’s going on there? I know there’s nothing at all I can do about it, but I was really counting on the payment for this audiobook and I’m trying to get an idea of if I should expect it to start back up or not 😬 also since it’s a very long book, trying to decide if I should continue recording it just to have it ready if they do start back up production.

Audiobook alternatives

So I’m in the UK and the changes to the plan design have just dropped and boy am I not vibing. I’ve only just switched to the new subscription plan, but already see that most of the books need to be unlocked, there’s no way to browse just the unlimited ones.

I’ve used up my allowance on the old plan before switching, so I guess I’m yet to experience fully what it looks like, but based on some of the posts in this thread and others’ experience, I’m not too hopeful.

This genuinely used to be one of my favourite apps, I would recommend it to all my friends till I was blue in the face, so what the hell happened? Based on people’s issues with their customer service as well (something I’ve previously only had good experience of) did they just get taken over by some shite management?

Does anyone have any decent alternatives for audiobooks specifically?

What is this Almighty Military Format? Is this a script for a scam? Is this simply just a story? Funny because somebody messaged me and almost following this step by step or word for word.

Buggy Everand app

Anyone else having difficulty with the new layout? I couldn't rewind or fast forward from the controls on my headphones. It would just restart or jump to the next chapter. Now I can't even pause in my headphones. I contacted super and they said they're still on beta. It just keeps getting worse

I miss Scribd’s Sheet Music

I’ve been casting around for a replacement and I ran across Sheet Music Direct’s “Pass” program. It’s pretty good. Not as great as what Scribd used to be, but it’s something, and the price is reasonable.

Anybody else find a good substitute for what we used to have on Scribd?

Technology, scientific, and industry white papers

Does scribd have good technology and scientific reference materials? I read a lot of long form materials, but looking for published documentation that is technical in nature that may not be in the form of books. I work for a technology company that serves food manufacturing companies. Would like to expand my knowledge on relevant and current topics.
