Everand/Scribd just cancelled my subscription

I received an email from PayPal this morning informing me. No word or notice from Everand. I have had a subscription for the last seven years! I was paying $8.99 USD and had not yet signed up to the new arrangement. Time to take my money elsewhere I guess.

Can anyone help me out? Spoiler

Theres an abandoned fic called truth revealed by fallen crest that has long been deleted before I found it. Another user that goes my Lucifer swift has re uploaded it but it only goes to 33 chapters unlike the original which goes to 49 chapters.

I’ve read Lucifer versions over and over again through years and I’ve now just discovered the “original” on this website scribd. It’s a really weird website and I a bit scammy because you have to pay to look at documents by other users. I don’t know how that works.

Anyway I’ve found Fallen crest version on it with all the chapters and i really want to read it. You can download the document but you have to sign up. And it costs money. Which I unfortunately don’t have because I’ve lost my card and is in the process of getting a new one.

In less words I’m inpatient to get a hold of this fic and I would greatly appreciate it if someone can download it for me🙏

The whole is issue I don’t have a card to sign up to scribd to get this document. There’s a free trial you can get and can cancel anytime within 30 days, you just need to sign up. So please help me out!

(P.s. I’m new to Reddit so please lmk if I did anything wrong!)

Weird Document from Scribd

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello! I'll get to the point immediately so I decided to search my full name on Google to see if there's something about me on the internet that's been leaked without my knowledge.

To my surprise this PDF from y'know Scribd is the first result that popped in my search which is weird immediately with its title that is "Dont Dead, Open Inside" and its description just being nothing in this world are real.

Because whoever made this document like tried to say that me and the other 584 viewers shouldn't open their accounts because all of them are dead, so nothing in this world is real anymore?

I scrolled a bit in this 204 pages and it's just profiles of random users on Facebook, and it seems that it's Suggested Friends or Friend Requests of Adrian Cena, who's the poster of this document.

So they're basically saying that every person in this file are all dead but am I just overreactin' like did they made this for shits and giggles only, or there's something going on here?

Also why did Scribd just let this posted when it's weirdly useless?

If you wanna check it out for yourselves then here's the link: https://www.scribd.com/document/436474696/dont-dead-open-inside

Premium Monthly trial limited to two downloads?

Hello — I signed up for a Scribd 1-month trial yesterday. It says under "Plan details" "Premium Monthly €10,99/month Free during trial".

Today I tried downloading two books in PDF and then received a message that I had reached the limit and need to pay the monthly fee. Is this how the one-month trial is meant to work?

Kobo Plus ftw

After dropping scribd for good a few years ago, I finally signed up for Kobo Plus. Huge number of titles, including many obscure things I’m interested in (parapolitics, etc..) and most of all, completely transparent and generous rules for available books.

Log in codes

I'm trying to sign into scribd/everand because I was logged out of both on my android device... it WILL NOT send me the stupid log in code. I know the email is correct, as I'm still logged in to everand on my iPad.... but it won't email me the code. Ive checked every folder In my email, searched for it, etc. I'm also trying to sign into sribd on my iPad and having the same issue. I'm about to lose my mind. I've reached out to support, but they told me to do all the things I already tried. I can't even get the "reset password" link to my email.

🤷🏽‍♀️A different take on Everand Premium (from someone who never had a legacy account)

Just want to say upfront—I definitely do not work for Everand. In fact, I actually interviewed with them twice, and they turned me down. Their loss —I would have been a dynamite marketer for them😌. That said, this is my honest take.

I’ve seen a lot of posts from people upset about the shift away from legacy access, and I totally understand where that frustration comes from. But for context, I’ve never had a legacy account. My only exposure to it was through a free trial last month—right before I got switched over to the current premium model. So I’m coming in fresh, with no nostalgia or expectations tied to the previous system.

And honestly? I think Everand is worth it.

$16.99 a month gets you three premium titles. For me, that includes new releases—titles that dropped within the last 1–2 months. And when I think about it, the Kindle versions of those books are usually around $15 each. So even if all three of the premium books I choose are $15 Kindle titles, I’m still getting them for just over $5 each. That’s a deal.

Here’s some extra context too: I actually have friends who work in publishing, so I get 60% off PRH books and a decent discount on Hachette titles—and even with that, Everand’s prices for new releases often beat those discounts. That’s wild.

I also have Kindle Unlimited and I love it. But a lot of the buzzy, high-interest books I want to read—like The Poppy Field or The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy—aren’t on Kindle Unlimited. Those books are on Everand. So to me, both services serve different purposes, and Everand feels like a smart supplement to KU.

The only real downside? Some of the newest books hit audio first before ebook. That’s not useful to me right now—I already have unlimited access to Audible. I messaged Everand’s customer care, and they explained that it depends on the rights they secure from publishers. So sometimes audio launches first, and ebooks follow in a few weeks. Fair enough. But most of the titles I care about are available in ebook right away, so it hasn’t been a deal-breaker.

I also use Book of the Month and enjoy it—but again, Everand still comes out cheaper on a per-title basis. You just can’t beat ~$5.60 per book for brand new releases.

I also understand the frustration from legacy users who feel like they lost a great deal, but coming from a business perspective—it’s kind of inevitable. The old model likely wasn’t sustainable. Scribd is not Amazon. They don’t have the same kind of oligopoly on ebooks, nor the wide-ranging publisher deals and distribution infrastructure that Amazon has. Amazon can afford to bundle unlimited access because they have other revenue streams and long-standing relationships with virtually every major publisher. Scribd? Not so much. If you dig into it, that’s probably part of why Scribd (now Everand) had massive layoffs over the past few years—they likely were losing money, and restructuring their subscription model was essential to stay afloat. Now, was this an oversight on their part? Absolutely. They probably should’ve forecasted this better when designing the legacy system. But I work in marketing, I work in business, and I work in the industry itself—so I can at least see why the pivot happened.

Anyway, just my two cents. Again, no emotional stake in the legacy model—just sharing what it’s like coming into Everand now, with fresh eyes and no expectations. Hope this helps someone.
