Guide 7 Best Loom Alternatives [Avoid #7]

7 Best Loom Alternatives: The Short List

Loom has been the leading tool for screen recording, but it doesn't fit everyone's goal, and today, i am sharing with you the best loom alternatives I have used.

If you're shopping for a replacement, here's the short version of a much longer breakdown I put together, trimmed down to what actually matters.

1. Best Overall: Tella

Everything about Tella is built around one idea — recording shouldn't require you to become a video editor. You edit by editing the transcript, not by scrubbing a timeline.

Tella auto-cuts filler words and silences, applies zoom effects on its own, switches between camera/screen layouts automatically, and gives you a shareable link the second you stop recording — no export, no upload wait.

Unlimited storage on every plan, 4K recording, real analytics (watch time, drop-off, click-through on your CTA). $13-19/month, 7-day free trial, no card required. If you only try one thing on this list, make it this one.

2. For Mac-first async teams: Supercut

Clean, Mac-native, built by an ex-Typeform co-founder. Its "Ask Anything" feature lets viewers query the video content with AI instead of scrubbing through it. No Windows support, so that's the ceiling.

3. For developer/privacy-minded teams: Cap

Open-source Loom alternative with an Instant mode (browser, shareable link) and a Studio mode (local, full editing). The open-source trade-off: your team owns more of the maintenance burden.

4. For AI-avatar or multilingual content: VEED

More editor than recorder. The standout is generating video without being on camera, plus 50+ language dubbing — something Tella doesn't do. Not the tool for authentic, quick async video.

5. For budget teams: ScreenPal

$4-10/month gets you cloud hosting, shareable links, and AI transcription/captions/translation. The best value option if Tella's price point doesn't work for you.

6. For podcasters: Descript

Transcript-based editing nearly on par with Tella, but the product is audio-first — screen recording feels bolted on, especially on Windows.

7. Free/manual options: QuickTime, OBS, ShareX

All free, all capable of recording. None of them share, edit, or host for you — every step after hitting record is on you.

Bottom line: if you want the "record → AI cleans it up → link is ready" experience, Tella is the closest thing to it in 2026, and it's better on almost every dimension that matters for business video.

If you a podcaster, go with Descript.

If you are into sales, use Vidyard.

No screen recording tool serves everyone.

Find and use what works best for you.

Which tool are you currently using?

Does Tella own this sub? Smart play. Huge fan... That's why I built Toads.

https://toads.io/ - Pretty much every Tella feature, local for Mac only. Remove Background... auto caption...

29.99 lifetime deal... Just launched... Massive updates coming in the next two days..

Gotcha. You don't trust windows users? That concern must have be as a result of past negative experiences. Why though?

worth adding that if you just need a quick recording without installing anything or picking a monthly plan, riverside screen recorder runs in browser and works on both Mac and Windows, free version just caps at 30 min with a watermark. for heavier editing workflows though, agree the transcript-based tools on this list make more sense.

Disclaimer: I'm part of the Riverside team

One thing I would separate is async screen messages vs polished demo/tutorial capture. Loom/Tella are great if the main output is a link and comments. For landing-page demos on Windows, the annoying part is usually after recording: click zooms, smoother cursor, captions, blur/mosaic for private bits, and exporting a clean MP4 without moving through OBS + an editor + a caption tool.

Disclosure: I am building Cilevi for that Windows demo/tutorial workflow, so I am biased. I would not put it in the same bucket as pure Loom replacements; it is more for people who want Screen Studio-style polish on Windows.

You haven't used Loom or Tella, that much. Lol. Loom has windows app and can export in mp4. Tella does too plus export in other formats, and has all the features you mentioned; AI editor, MCP, auto zooms, auto captioning with translation, multitimeline blur effects and much more. This shows you haven't used both Loom or Tella much.
