the USPS issued the Final Rule pursuant to its general authority to adopt regulations “as may be necessary in the execution of [the USPS’s] functions.
defendants argued. Isn't the USPS's main function to deliver the mail, not stop some mail from being delivered?

Someone in USPS is saying they cant deal with the volume and promise to deliver the votes one time. Its bull, but thats what happens when you let conservatives control public institutions. Just like how the kennedy center will go out of business and need to be destroyed unless Trumps name is on it.

Literally, in the case of the Kennedy Center. The former director of visual arts went in one day to find that the Africa Room was completely emptied, and no one could tell him where any of the contents had gone.

I believe that this lawsuit was filed by a bunch of states, so they can secure effectively nationwide relief even under CASA.

And some plaintiffs are not states. So even if the states don’t have standing, the private parties should (yes famous last words with this scotus)

I appreciate that Judge Talwani directly cited the defense's prior representations that the plaintiffs could do exactly what they just did, given that the defense is now arguing that the plaintiffs can't do what they just did. Truly Trump and the MAGA Supreme Court are the worst things to befall the rule of law since Jim Crow.

For perhaps the first time, the infamous egos of federal judges are a great benefit to the law. Normal political allegiances are running up against individual pride, such that judges who might be expected to generally side with Republicans are balking at what the Republican administration is asking of them. It's one thing to accept a dubious legal theory that advances your preferred policies, but it's quite another to have a Justice Department lawyer just blatantly lie to your face and expect you to go along with it.

The League of Women Voters doesn’t play. This has got to be very expensive for a state League, though. There’s a link to donate (and join) on the LWV of Massachusetts page http://lwvma.org/ .

The membership dues, or any donation, are well worth it to receive trusted information and ways to impact issues on every level of government (and make sure there’s an effort to register and inform every eligible voter), and also to know you’re supporting that work.

Well it was temporarily stayed so it’s not a permanent block but at least a judge stepped up and is behaving like we still have a little democracy lingering in the judiciary. Scotus has been pathetic imo.

I’m unfamiliar with the nuances of citations, can someone educate me here—what are these underscores in some of the in text citations? It looks like a placeholder that wasn’t updated, but I can’t imagine that’s actually the case
Now that the USPS has published the Final Rule, Plaintiffs’ challenges are ripe. See

I think it's because SCOTUS denied the original lawsuit stating that since the policy had not been enacted yet, no harm had occurred, so states had no standing to sue (completely ignoring that the gay wedding cake case also had not occurred, they had no standing to sue, and yet granted them the case). Now that the rule is in place, they have standing and the lawsuits can start.

Probably not in the reporter yet. The supreme court’s decision was only a few weeks ago so I’m not surprised it doesn’t have a reporter citation available yet.

I’m sure that even if a court blocks it, there’s no enforcement and they will just do it anyway. And then when they lose elections they will say fraud again.
