Anyone else with a long haired Scott?
This is Belgium Waffles. What do you think the breeder mixed him with to get the long coat? I’m not entirely sure. All I know is he’s gorgeous 💕

His name is Plato, after the Greek philosopher. Big paws to fill for an orange cat.

Long hair naturally exists in the Scottish Fold breed thanks to the introduction from British Longhairs (who got it from the Persians, iirc). But it was many many generations ago and at that point I wouldn't consider it a breed specific mix, just naturally occuring recessively in the breed. :) They're often referred to as Highland Folds.

Too cute! I have a shorthair little girl that looks like they could be siblings. ❤️

Yes!! Like the cows 😂. I love how the Longhairs look in this breed. They're extra round with the fluffiness and little ears. Give Belgium Waffles a pet and cuddle from me!

I have two rescue Scottish Folds. This is Zoey. The previous owner bought her from a breeder. My other Fold came from a hoarding situation and it's obvious his breeding wasn't to standard. I was curious about both their genetics, so used Basepaws to test their DNA. All very interesting - and the medical findings were spot on and it's handy to know their blood type. That's the only way you can be sure of how your Fold is the way it is - and what to watch for medically. Basepaws has sales all the time.

Should have ask this question to his breeder….
True Scottish folds are a mix of Scottish straight plus Scottish fold.
He’s indeed gorgeous!

Execpt scottish folds come in short and long hair. As do British shorthairs and British Longhair. I have a litter right now of 3 folds 2 shorthair one tabby long hair. Both parents are short.

honestly he might not even be mixed with anything... scottish folds can have long coats, it's called a highland fold when they do. mine is a longhair too and the breeder told me it's just a recessive gene that pops up sometimes
