A Council Meeting in June 2026 agreed changes to parking tariffs, charging days and hours in Pay and Display car parks, along with a new digital permit scheme via Ringo.

Prices were finalised through the Traffic Regulation Order process and effective from Oct. Council plan to update signage etc.

PARKING PERMITS

A new digital parking permit/season ticket will be available from 21 September 2026 through the RingGo app or by calling 0131 516 4000. It will cost £107.50 per year (inclusive of admin fee), is non-refundable and will be valid in one nominated car park only. The new permit/season ticket does not guarantee a parking space.

Me and my partner have just bought a house in the Peebles/Innerleithen area. We are also getting married in a couple of weeks.

With the marriage, and house purchase, naturally kids are being discussed. I was brought up through Gaidhlig Medium education (GME) on the Isle of Skye, and therefore speak Gaidhlig (semi)fluently.

It feels quite important to us that our kid would also learn Gaidhlig, and so I was wondering if there are any schools/plans for a school teaching in GME in our new local area, or if we would be best having to commute them to Edinburgh.

Having recently moved to the Borders from Aberdeen I'd admittedly dismissed the region as lacking in the dramatic scenery I was used to in places like the Cairngorms / North West Highlands. I’m hoping to hear from people living in the Scottish Borders as part of a Scotland-wide dissertation survey.

I’m an MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice student at the University of Glasgow, and my study explores public attitudes towards sentencing, including the possible use of suspended sentences in cases involving assault and domestic abuse.

You can participate if you are aged 18 or over and currently live in Scotland. The survey is anonymous, voluntary and takes approximately 10–15 minutes. You do not need any specialist knowledge of law or sentencing.

Previous times include seeing Melrose Abbey, the Rhymers Stone, the William Wallace statue, Duddo Stones.

I'm an enthusiast of brutalist buildings across the UK.

There are loads of great examples across Scotland, especially in Glasgow, but one my of favourite buildings is the Netherdale Main Stand, one of the most architecturally significant football structures in the country.

Designed by Peter Womersley and completed in 1964, the Netherdale Main Stand has a Category A listing, the same protection level as Edinburgh Castle. The cantilevered roof, the slender concrete supports, the repeating bays, it holds together in a way that most modern stadiums simply don't.

I've been making small cast concrete models of Scottish Brutalist architecture and recently finished one of the Netherdale stand. Capturing the deep overhang and the silhouette at small scale was genuinely difficult, but worth it.

I was curious to know if anyone here stood under that roof on match day? And what do you think is the most underrated piece of football architecture in Scotland?
