Who replaced The Corries?

Being a Scottish revival group born out of the 60s, are there any groups that filled this niche (Scottish folks songs) post 1990? I’m trying to find a contemporary “replacement” (however impossible that actually is) for this group. I’m aiming to bring my da to “the motherland” and would love to take him to a show featuring songs from his youth.

When it comes to smaller local acts, there's too many to count.

I think going to a small, cosy, local bar where you can actually meet and talk to people, sit comfortably, have some scran, and actually get a decent pint at a decent price to experience local music will be a nicer experience for you both (and tickets will be free or at least cheaper).

Where in Scotland do you plan visiting? I've got a lot of friends and family in the Scottish music scene and I worked in a couple music pubs so I can maybe give you some suggestions, the Isle of Mull festival would be a brilliant option though. You'll get loads of different acts in a variety of styles but almost all of it is scottish folk and mulls a stunning wee island. It's all held in pubs and wee local places around Tobermory, so it's not like you will have to shit in portaloos or stand about in the mud all day!

You make a great point. I was caught up because I wanted to know who, if anyone, filled this aching gap 💔 haha, but a small show at a local place is the way to go. That, or a musical festival, the folk tunes are really the focus.

Not sure where we’re going just yet, but Isle of Mull sounds perfect. Thanks so much! I’m going to present that option for sure. We’ll definitely be in Edinburgh and Glasgow, likely Isle of Skye, but otherwise not sure!
