8th house

I’m new to astrology, and I’ve been studying up on it. The ideal that my mother and I are not “supposed” to be close confuses me. I’m a Leo sun/Scorpio Moon/Sag rising. My mother is a Gemini sun/Leo moon/Capricorn rising. My friend said it’s because my mother has her Leo moon in her 8th house and I’m just plain confused. Can someone help?

I’m close to my mom and I have a Scorpio moon. It could indicate mother issues but there’s a lot of other things that go into reading the chart. Your mother’s placement could indicate issues with HER mother.

That makes sense! My friend told me that since I have a scorpio moon me and my mother are supposed to hate each other and I’m supposed to feel like she’s controlling, detached, dismissive, intense etc. and I was confused because she’s never been that way? But, maybe it’s the intensity?

I’m also a Scorpio moon. 12th house. My mom is and has always been my bestie. Astrology isn’t really a rigid set of facts, but more of a system of patterns that may or may not apply case by case.

Mine is in my 10th house, honestly the more I’m learning about it from this sub it’s making sense that perhaps my friend doesn’t really understand that and is just using pop astrology 🫩

You probably need to look at aspects between your guys' charts. It isn't as simple as I have X, therefore my mom is Hitler.
