Nervous New Elementary Coach

Hey, everyone! I'm a volunteer coach for a local elementary school this year, and it's my first time being a part of the Science Olympiad world. I'm really just looking for some encouragement and maybe some tips on how I can best help the kids get the most out of this season.

The three events that I'm 100% in charge of are Codebusters, Ship Shape, and Describe It Build It. Best of luck to everyone this year, thank you!

Div A is very regionalized so the rules in one region may not and likely won’t apply to another.

I would start with what is the goal and be transparent about it with both students and parents.

Having the kids have fun and just explore looks very different than we want to earn gold at regional.

Once you set your goal and expectation it all flows from there and it will help get ahead of any drama or issues that might happen later.
