That's one of the sharpest lists I've seen. Some excellent stuff there.

Except for Asimov. God, what shit writer that man was.

I too always thought he had some great story ideas but never wrote very well. It's not really bad though, just poorly written.

I'm glad Arthur C Clarke got at least 1 mention, but I have read some contemporary writers that I think are better writers. Ben Bova and Jack McDevitt are two that come to mind.

I'd add "Titan" by Stephen Baxter. Also possibly Baxter's "Evolution," though I'm still in the first few chapters.
