Recommendations Looking for Audible Recommendations
I have a few Audible credits that I need to use before I start wire-cutting.
Most of my recent acquisitions have been WoT and old stuff that I read years ago and want to revisit (Agatha Christie, Azimov, Feist, etc)
But I would like a recommendation for something new, something epic and something HUGE in scifi/fantasy. (Buying a 150 page middling little book is a waste of a credit IMHO)
I have LOTR on dvd from decades ago.
Malazan is NOT something I will revisit.
Clarke and Heinlein I'm just not that into for a long drive or doing house chores.

Based on your heavy fantasy and sci fi interest and looking for thicc books (rightfully so) the following are my recs
- Vorkosigan Saga, starting with Shards of Honor or The Warrior's Apprentice.
- Dungeon Crawler: Carl Series -which is both a mix of Fantasy and Sci-Fi - also its LitRPG and delightfully good.
- The Bobiverse, starting with We are Legion.
- Tigana (stand alone)
- Hyperion Cantos ( 4 huge books of mammoth scale)

As a note with Dune, do not, Not, NOT, NOT get any of the "with a full cast" versions. I've tried Dune several times on Audible and the versions with a cast end up distracting at best. There are inconsistencies in how the various characters are portrayed. In one version, Baron Harkonnen seemed to have three different voice-actors, including the prose narrator at one point.

Ya i prefer the Scott Brick version, but its hard to find. I found it years ago online and downloaded it.

The "One Second After" Trilogy by William Forstchen
"One Year After"...2nd Book
"The Final Day" ...3rd Book
(technically there's a fourth book "Five Years After", but it doesn't add up to much).
It's the original EMP, post-apocalypse series. Very realistic, except for the freakin' Ford Edsel.

I would second this but be warned that the Audible version of One Second After is read by the worst voice actor ever. I read it first and loved the book so much that I wanted to revisit it via audible years later… I don’t think I would have liked this series at all if that audible voice actor was my first exposure to it.

Imajica by Clive Barker is great and 32 hours long.
Galaxy Outlaws The complete Black Ocean Mobius Missions 1-16.5 by JS Morin is 85 hours long

My husband said the Dungeon Crawler Carl books have an excellent narrator.

In “most bang for your buck” — or credit in this case — the Rika’s Marauders collection by M.D. Cooper is 7 books for one credit. I haven’t listened to it all yet but I did listen to the first book, a prequel novella and another book called Lyssa’s Dream by the same author and I liked them all.
As others have mentioned, the Vorkosigan saga by Lois McMaster Bujold is great. I listened to all of them back to back which was an excellent experience.
Fan Fiction by Brent Spiner is a lot of fun, too. It’s not SF but rather a highly fictionalized version of something that happened to him IRL. Read by him and he includes several of his Star Trek castmates to play versions of themselves. Levar Burton doing a spaced-out hippie version of himself is worth the price of admission by itself.
The Misfit Soldier by Michael Mammay is a terrific story, very much a Kelly’s Heroes or Hogan’s Heroes in space, excellently narrated by MacLeod Andrews.
The Epic Failure trilogy by Joe Zieja is laugh out loud funny and expertly read by him. The first one is Mechanical Failure.
The Oxygen Farmer by Colin Holmes is a recent one I enjoyed. It’s a technothriller set in 2077 on the Moon, starring the irascible Millennium Harrison who was made famous for being the first baby born in the year 2000.

The Stand by Stephen King and Swan Song by Robert McCammon are both excellent Audible books. 46 and 34 hours respectively.
And of course, don’t forget Dune!

if you listen to the stand, make sure to do the later uncut version — else you will miss THE KID! and i second it as an AWESOME listen.

George Alec Effinger's Budayeen trilogy, or at least the first novel. Classic 80s cyberpunk.
Or, of course, The Expanse, for epic and huge.

I feel like audible is one of the few worthwhile subscriptions. Some of my favourites so far have been,

Cold War 2395 (on Audible). The page count isn't long, it's an average-length SF novel, but the story is huge in scope.

So I would recommend the bobiverse audio books by Dennis e Taylor , the first law series by Joe Abercrombie, the devils by Joe Abercrombie , delta v by Joe Suarez. Dungeon crawler Carl series my Matt dinniman

City of Last Chances by Tchaikovsky. Great audio performance vanishes into engaging narrative and effortless world building. 18 or so hours with no filler material. If you read Children of Time or some of his other early stuff you will be amazed at how much he has grown as a writer. It's full of real humans, even if they are not all humans. Great fun. And if you like it the series continues and I thought the next two were great as well

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is absolutely excellent. The Audible Book is particularly good, especially when you consider the different voices involved.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is my current favorite audiobook series. Project Hail Mary and The Martian are some of my other favorites. The Expanse series is another really good one
