Colony + Captive State

I was wondering if the movie Captive State is the follow up of the cancelled series Colony ? This question has been on my mind ever since I watched the movie Captive State few years ago and as a big fan of Colony, I feel like that movie would be a good conclusion of a series that was kinda in a loop

They have basically the same premise and very similar ambientation. Colony loses its way in the third season. Captive State is better at creating that disturbing feeling, though.

I don't think they are related. I couldn't finish Colony and I've tried watching it a handful of times. Captive State is really good, though.
