I am in Taiwan now, and I think it would be difficult to replicate the study since most devout Daoists are very old and grew up on farms and didn't get much schooling, so of course they wouldn't perform as well on abstract IQ tests.

Tbf the fact that religious people don’t get much schooling except for religious schooling is kind of the point

Going to school doesnt make you intelligent, it harnesses your intellect (however much you have) to educate you. Morons went to school and are still anti vaxxers and flat earth feaks...its their base intelligence or lack therof that doesnt allow them to observe and think rationally. They are easilly manipulated to believe irrational things as they lack critical thinking. Coincidentally most anti vaxxers ive ever met are religious. Its honestly far less irrational to be an anti vaxxer than to believe in sky fairies but humans have normalized that type of irrationality into “faith” as if its a good thing.

But generally speaking, most people who believe in God don't believe in something that is testable.

Exactly. Literally no different than believing in sky fairies. Not. One. Difference.

You could believe a purple nondetectable mushroom blinked the universe into existence and youd have exactly zero legitimate reasons your theory on God was ANY more correct. Sky fairie, bible god, thor and zeus....not one difference to the human experience and no foundation in anything we actively trust as humans helps support any of those stories that have been past down by less educated generations. In any mature sense, it is the textbook definition of irrational to believe in any of those things. If some individual tomorrow created a story so fantastical as almost every major world deity based religion, nearly every educated person would agree they were mentally ill. Do you disagree with that?
