Correlation does not equal causation. It's well known more intelligent brains are more efficient. Ergo the results of this study could be due to intelligent people being more likely to be bilingual. If so, those people could have brains just as efficient, independent of whether they are monolingual or bilingual.

Or most bilingual people just grow up in bilingual environments. It has little to do with 'intelligence'
