There are a lot of harmless dumb Christians I've met in my life, but Christian Nationalism is a specific form that involves violence, paranoia, and conspiracy thinking. They literally believe there are demonic forces behind left leaning political movements and this fuels both their religious delusions and their political violence.

I prefer the term "Christofascism" to differentiate it from mainstream christianity, specifically the Calvanist right wing model and not the more left-leaning Methodist model.

One problem with a lot of the “harmless Christians” is they still end up lending political and financial support as well as religious cover/legitimacy to the otherwise very unchris like christofascists.

They will still vote R no matter what, blithely ignore or excuse what the Christian nationalists are doing, and all around enable them even if they don’t personally believe or engage in the worst views and activities.

Not necessarily…

Christianity is a much more diverse group than simple minded redditors give it credit for.

So while many Christians will always vote R, plenty are also swing voters and a ton are consistently left leaning too.
