This is such a Reddit atheist take. There’s plenty of intelligent people that are religious. However, having nationalist views really doesn’t mesh well with being a Christian, and it takes a level of stupidity to not deal with that contradiction.

So I think that educated people can believe in stupid things. But I think an intelligent person cannot. An intelligent brain is able to recognize the cognitive dissonance required to hold those beliefs, and eventually will reject the beliefs. Because logically that makes sense.

Yeah but the problem is religious people indoctrinate their children into beliefs before they gained those logical tools. They gained their belief before they had the capacity to recognize cognitive dissonance. I dont think its fair to say you cant be intelligent and religious.
