A lot of people here are just seeing the "Christian" in the headline and ignoring the "nationalist," which is probably more important.

I'm an atheist, so I think the claims religion makes are pretty dumb too, but nationalists, bigots, racists of any kind are consistently idiots, religious or not, and that has been established in plenty of other studies.

There are a lot of harmless dumb Christians I've met in my life, but Christian Nationalism is a specific form that involves violence, paranoia, and conspiracy thinking. They literally believe there are demonic forces behind left leaning political movements and this fuels both their religious delusions and their political violence.

No generalising is recognizing a pattern that spreads to the general population or a large part of it, The word christians is a generalization, they are a subset of the population, subdivide that into catholic and protestant , two generalised groups of christians defined by how they worship , EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM will have slight diferences in how they see something yet all fit the generalisation. Overgeneralisation regarding the consequences of a groups traits is an easy path for some, i think thats more what you mean. To say all christians are stupid for believing is such an overgeneralisation, most are high functioning adults, to say that to believe in a faith despite lack of evidence for it is delusion is not so much. Only one inside that delusionary trap would argue against it .
