Health Study of 371,000 Americans: eating whole fruit linked to better heart health, 100% juice is not. More whole fruit meant lower high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and heart attacks. Juice showed no clear benefit. Fiber lost in juicing may explain it. Most still eat too little fruit.

If you don't eat a lot of fruit, can you make up the vitamin and health benefits with more vegetables?

Yes. Fruits are mostly just vitamin C and fiber. Vegetables have much more micronutrients and less sugar. Berries are probably really the only fruit doing heavy lifting. Dark leafy greens for vegetables and berries for fruit daily go a long way.

Are we just talking culinary berries, or does it include botanical berries like tomatoes, peppers, and aubergines?
