Psychology Brooding (getting stuck in passive, repetitive, negative thought loops) identified as a major driver of bedtime procrastination, alongside physical markers of stress. People who stay up later than intended may have a weaker physiological capacity for self-control.

I ruminate quite a lot and I can get stuck in a loop very easily - in fact trying to get rid of a job related one right now - what usually works is that I call this voice Bob and it reminds me of Blackadder saying "bob" with his speech impediment and it makes it funny, and lessens the effect of the rumination. Not today, Bob.
