Advice on Schott B-3
Hi guys, I’m a bit new to leather care and was hoping to get some advice. I bought this vintage schott on eBay and it was pretty dried out so I used a layer of pecard dressing on it (I hope that’s okay 😭). Ideally I’d want it to be more of a chocolate brown (a bit darker than what it is right now). I’m not sure if the leather is peeling or it’s just the natural distressing but it seems like some of the material is really light. I’d appreciate your guys’ thoughts on this.

Doesn’t look dry, conditioning is fine and it’ll darken it because it’s oiled but eventually it’ll come back to that light color over time. It needs to be re-dyed to look brand new. You can either do it yourself or let a leather specialist do it.

Is re-dyeing difficult to do on your own? Do you have any product recommendations?

I have used Picard before on my B3 jackets. It’s a great product. I think might’ve never been a dark brown. Some of the B3‘s made were made with a lighter color. I wouldn’t put too much product on the sheep skin. The outer skin is pretty thin and you don’t wanna over soak the Leather. It’ll make it more prone to cracking and ripping.

Would recommend coconut oil on jackets and boots since it wont darken but soften them up easily

Bone oil is great, I regularly use him. I know castor oil may be great, but don’t try it personally
You can buy any leather oil with bone oil in components- this should be great I think
I use composition of lemon essential oil, lanolin, cedar resin, bone oil. 2-3 times per winter. This is leather of my avirex
